Choosing Between Dell Mobile Workstations

Was just wondering if anyone had any opinion on Dell mobile workstations.
I'm planning upgrade from my M6300 to either a M4500 or a M6400. Bear in mind I was using notebookcheck.net for the performance and parts of these things and on the GPU portion, 3dmarkvantage06.
Each are about the same price, if the 4500 is just a bit more expensive.
My problem is, I can get a M4500 first gen I7 with a FX 880m for about 500 which on the cpu side would be a major improvement, and around a 20-30% performance increase on the gpu side.
While I could probably get a M6400 for about 320ish, which contains Core 2 duo/quad and would most likely have a 2700m which is a bit better all around than my current 6300. The performance increase by the gpu is around 30-40%
But I could also spend around 100 more dollars, and purchase a ATI Firepro 7740 GPU for the M6400, which an ungodly class 2 on the laptop GPU side which would be about a 200% plus increase for a paltry price.
I could also buy a 1800m for the 4500 for the same price and get around a 50% boost in performance.
So here, I'm either trading off a great cpu for a great gpu.
Was just wondering which would be worth it, and of course, they're both used.
Unless anyone has any other reccomendations for laptops, this is what I was planning to do.

Depends on what you want to do. If you play heaps of games bias over to a better gpu if you do cpu intensive work get the laptop with a better processor - Simple stuff really.

I'm very sorry, but I can't resist. You are specifically asking about Dells and that's why this is spoiled. You probably won't care, but still. Don't read the rage unless you want to, it's just my personal expierience with Dells at large.
*deep breath* Now that's out of my system, as has already been said: if you are gaming, go for the GPU. Although I couldn't look at your OP because the smushed-togetherness made my head spin, I'm guessing you said you think you are using both the CPU and GPU fairly intensively. If that's the case, I'd go with a better CPU. A lot of the newer processors can really get a lot of work done while still giving decent graphical prowess. Really it's better to go for a more expensive but better all around computer, if you can afford it that is.

Generally, the regular Dell stuff is rather shitty.
I've had a Latitude D820 as my first laptop with them and...
Well, it wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't great, and their touchscreen drivers were shitty.
These laptops ( Dell Precision) are their top of the line models(or near top I guess) made for doing fancy shit like CAD and Graphical simulations.
Even if this particular model was made 6 years ago, it's actually doing really good. Nothing wrong with drivers or anything.
But now, I've narrowed it down to getting the next generation version of my current laptop and getting the ATI Firepro 7740 (150% boost all around and around 300-400 dollars total).
Or just upgrading the current GPU in my laptop to a 3600mfor around a 50% boost (130ish)
I realize that a extremely large percentage of laptops are unable to switch GPUs and what not.
But this particular one is well, a workstation and it's made with the ability to switch, I confirmed it.
I just gotta buy the right version of the GPU ._.;;
Of course, these laptops aren't made for gaming, though they certainly can do so with ease.
If anyone knows a good laptop for gaming that I could probably get for under 300-400 dollars...
Includes refurbished and what not.
If not least suggestions so I can check on the model and see what parts it has and compare.
