Com to HDTV via HDMI cable
0
Ever since i got a HDMI cable for my PS3, i've also been using it to link my computer to the TV and watch my anime/videos on it.
But last night, for some unknown reason, the connection didn't work. I tried unplugging/re-plugging it several times, even restarted my com, and still nothing. Then i tried connecting the HDMI cable to my PS3, and it worked fine, so that must mean my computer is the problem right?
This morning, i tried again, still didn't work. Tried it with my bro's laptop too, and it doesn't work either. Anyone has any advice/help to share?

You'll have to give more detailed description for us to help:
-What model is the TV?
-What setting were used on th TV?
-What OS ran on the PC/laptop?
-What graphic card with what driver did you use?
-Did you setup your output correctly (a resolution supported by the TV)?

-I dunno what model, but it's a Panasonic that my grandpa gave me.
-Settings on the tv? Like what?
-PC was running Vista, laptop was running Windows 7
-Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS
-I think so, I've never had any problems until last night. And i didn't change any settings on both the TV and PC.
Sorry if the details are a little incomplete.

Does your TV have multiple HDMI slots?
Here's some possible solutions:
- Try installing your videocard drivers on your laptop again
- Try plugging it into a different connection and toggling with the inputs.
I've had a similar problem when running with Vista, and after several tries of restarting the laptop while it's plugged it, it finally came through after 10 minutes. Try doing it again and waiting awhile for the TV to get the signal.

You can look at this on how to update your video card driver:

As for your PS3, I have no clue. Did you try toggling with your TV settings?

You should seriously watch out with HDMI cables, especially since they are so pricey.
I would recommend Sony HDMIs, much of the other brands are faulty and dies out or breaks quickly.
Also check that the Cable is gold plated to protect for wear and tear.

What?
Just get the cables from Monoprice. The end.

Gold plate --> vs. <-- wear and tear?
You have no goddamn idea what you're talking about.
Gold plating is done to ensure superior conductivity and no signal noise from the coupling. (It's also corrosion resistance).
Since HDMI is transmitting digital data, it has no whatsoever use.
That 3 micron gold cover costs about 2$ and you'll likely end up paying 10-15$ more for it... for a damn cable.
Just buy a cable and don't twist or bend it this time around.

Duly noted, and thanks again.
