Here's hoping I'm not the only Cricket fan on Fakku.
After a REALLY dry 3 weeks with no international action, stuff seems to really be picking up in the next week.
Upcoming series:
BAN vs. WI
IND vs. ENG
ZIM vs. NZ
SA vs. AUS
PAK vs. SL
Now, a couple of those are not the hottest match ups, and India vs. England's getting a bit old (only partially because we got totally and utterly stomped). But South Africa vs Australia looks very promising, as does Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka.

I'm guessing you're Indian btw. Anyhow, with the nokia champion's league going on, you wouldn't really tell that the weeks gone were dry, unless you're fed-up with the continuous T-20 tournaments.....like me. I just stopped watching cricket after the continuous T-20 tourneys started badgering the sports channels..

I'm not really opposed to T-20, it just seems a little overrated to me. Still, I can appreciate a few matches around a proper international tour, and I think I'll actually follow the T-20 world cup next year.

I'm from Bangladesh... or i'd rather say Saudi-Arabian-born Bangladeshi resident, to be specific...lol.
I agree too, International tours are always welcome. It's just that I feel that cricket is being downgraded by hyping up about the T-20 leagues, like letting Bollywood stars have ownership of the clubs. You want cricket to be globalised, then go pro. On second thought.... ignore all the blabbering, I just dont find the thrill I used to find in watching ODIs..

You should talk to Rise-chan, She's a pretty cool girl from Bangladesh.

So that makes 3 Bangladeshis (artcellrox, otakusam, rise-chan) on here and yet I'm the only Indian...

Don't link me something like this, ever again. >_>
It just looks like you're going off topic, don't do it, and just stay on topic.
Also, its actually 4 Bangladeshis. ;P

I keep up with internationals, but I only really watch T-20. Test cricket is too boring and ODIs are meh.

off-topic: Actually, I like motorsports the best, Anything (except NASCAR and its oval track relatives), I'll dig in..
and the other bangladeshis are Fakku Elders...!! I wonder how long they've been members..??

ODIs are still fun to watch for me. Test matches have always been things I've loosely followed and never properly watched. ~40 hrs for no result = no thanks.

I'd agree with this. T-20s take too much strategy out of the game... half of all the shots are just slogs down the pitch. 4 overs per bowler takes the meaning out of spells. ODIs still have the best balance of strategy and excitement, imo.

Mr. Ryuuhagoku sir, I am a West Indian.. so any thrill in cricket has been sucked out a long time ago, but I still love the game.
Yesterday, I was looking at WI v. BAN a bit, but it is going as to be expected I guess. I did watch the end of the IND vs. ENG ODI which I thought was an exciting little finish.
I'm sorry you guys don't like test matches. I do, though at this stage I would not go to an oval to watch it but I would follow it on tv or something.

Arghhh, yeah, the Windies have had a really lousy decade. I'm guessing you're not old enough to remember the 70s?
WI v. BAN seem nicely matched, annoying that day 2 of the test got rained out.
IND finally showed some spine against England, I'm very pleased with how this series is going.
I don't dislike test matches, I just can't stand inconclusive matches. That PAK v. SL match was soooo close to having a conclusion, it's just... frustrating >:[
Btw, did you go to any of the 2007 World Cup matches? Were there any on your home island?

Spoiler:
I wasnt around for the 70's but thoughout the 90's, before Lara was big, was still great. They have so much potential, but WI have become specialist at what we call "snatching defeat from the hands of victory".
Unfortunately I havent seen many of the other matches so for. I just took a peek at the PAK vs. SL scoreboard.
At first I was puzzled Pakistan didn't win, esp. with 511 declared, but then I took a look at the run rate. That would have been a frustrating game to watch.
Sometimes I have the worse luck when it comes to being in the right place at the right time. That year quite a few matches were in my island, but I was studying overseas and didn't get to even see coverage.
This year I was suppose to go study in England.... 2012 Olympics here I come!!.... In the end I didn't get the funding I needed and will have to start form Sept 2012 :(
EDIT: BAN vs. WI another washed out day. This can only draw if they actually play. IND still looking good against ENG!! Thumbs up. And which teams just drew their series???

The current WI vs. IND match is like my ideal test match; 18 wickets in one day, guaranteed conclusion by Day 4... it's just lovely.
So much better than that last SL vs. PAK match...

Whelp, I think that in light of the current Australia tour and the recent England tour, it's safe to say that India is entering a pretty shitty spell.
OTOH, it looks like Australia's gonna shoot back to the top in no time. Good job Aussies, you guys earned it.

Seriously, who says ODIs are dead? That IND v SL match was exhilarating, and the entire tri-series so far has been fantastic.
NZ v Zimbabwe was much less entertaining, but I don't think anyone was surprised by that.
Have any of Aussies here been following the series? (Drifter, Damoz... and a few others I'm pretty sure)

Found this thread randomly. Want to say my name is dedicated to a cricketer :DI have to say I prefer Sehwag's style over Dravid, but the latter is still an extremely accomplished master of his art.

Not any more.
OT: I'm not a die hard cricket fan, but I do enjoy watching it. And because I'm living in India, I'm updated to each ball of every over.
I was at the 2011 World Cup Final in Mumbai and a few IPL matches in different cities.
I watch the T-20s and ODIs mostly. Can't spend 5 days watching a test match so I just watch the statistics at the end of the day.
I find the IPL really interesting(though I have a gut feeling it is all rigged and by the end it becomes too much of cricket). It's cool that a cricket match is over in less than 3 hours. Plus you get to see the best international players in action. I love watching the West Indians. They play better in their IPL teams than for WI.
