Cryptocurrency is nice and a pretty cool concept but it's still very tightly coupled with fiat currency. The more interesting subject is the blockchain technology/protocol itself which has massive potential across many sectors.

I would love to get into the whole Cryptocurrency fad, but there is so little information on how exactly it works or how to even earn such currency. Additionally, it might be something that will be incorporated into normal culture sooner rather than later, so...yeah

When it first started I bought in slightly if only because I thought the risk of 5 dollars at the time wasn't that bad. Ended up cashing out a higher rate which in the end helped me pay off things that needed to be paid... so that was nice.
Besides that I'm not a big fan. It just fucks with my hobby and makes things cost more. I was thinking about upgrading my rig this year... but with all the bull happening doesn't look like it. Meh. Still works so why replace it :p

Seeing how old this post is, I am sure some people might want to reconsider...it isn't going away and the black-market thoroughly embraces it. IMO, it's dumb but I would invest if I had the extra cash and sit on it for 40+ years.

There is also an on going fight between different crypto currencies and how each one works. The concept won't go away but I think we are still far from knowing which currencies will still be relevant decades from now.

Interesting idea that I've dabbled in for a bit. The price swings are not good for my blood pressure though.
