Curiosity: Charisma and "to be a Leader".
0
Out of curiosity I've been wondering to myself.
Edited, devsonfire helped me to see some errors in my questions so they are revised.
[1] What is charisma to you?
[1.5] Is it in physical appearances, expression, personality?
[2] Are the people (fictional or real) you see as "charismatic" add up to exactly that?
[3] Are you drawn to their charisma? If yes/no, why?
[4] Do you believe anyone can be charismatic?
[5] What makes a person a leader? What makes them a "great leader" to you? What is the difference to you?
[6] Is their a leader you view as a "great leader" (fictional or real)? Why is he one to you?
[7] Do you find charisma necessary to be a leader?
Since I never thought about it I don't have much of an idea (to call my own) for any of these. I'm not looking for a text definition, I'm looking for personal opinions. "What are these things to you? What do you think when you read these?"

1. Charisma is something you're born with, everyone has their own, not saying not everyone has it.
2. Leadership is a character. How do you build on a character? Does it come naturally? Or do you train to have that specific character? To be a good leader is like to be a good manager, you have to have some other characteristics that comes hand-in-hand with being a leader.
3. Good leaders are naturally charismatic.
My answers are assumption based on what I know and what I have learnt, by all means if you have something against it, tell me so we can have a good discussion :)

I also agree with this.
only thing I could add would be that I feel good leaders must have the ability to listen and accept comprimise as well as be in control.
Also offten times arogance and charisma go hand in hand and people who seem like great leaders are missleading and egotistical. I think you need natural charisma but to know for sure if you are ready to lead something of any significant value you would have to do a lot of soul searching and determine your own weaknesses and strengths

Both of you have me curious now in a different ways...
As in a personality facet capable at any moment, but not active constantly? Or ever present but varied person to person? Is it within the realm of "adjustable" upon effort, or is it unconsciously/uncontrollably evoked, or both adjustable but unconscious/uncontrollable? I am also curious, when you see someone, what about them makes you think "I find them charismatic". Physical, expressed, personality, or all? (I realized the way I posed the questions was to vague (I didn't ask what I wanted too).. Sorry)
I'm curious of you and UsagiHime view of "character" is. I'd also like to ask for an example or a little more elaboration of "other characteristics" and how they go hand-in-hand.

In what way do you define "Naturally charismatic"? Does this also mean someone can be of leader quality without being charismatic?
To all the questions I previously asked? I'm a little confused.

My own answer to this question : Having Friends that you don't know personally. To all the questions I previously asked? I'm a little confused.

[1] What is charisma to you?
To me, charisma is the name we give to a person's ability to socialize and get other people's attention and/or affection. A person with good charisma is generally persuasive, has a strong presence and is capable of fitting into any group of people. We all have that charismatic friend who seems to entertain wherever he is regardless of his proximity with those people. Sometimes it's even the "guy you hate that you love".
[1.5] Is it in physical appearances, expression, personality?
Simply personality, in my opinion. I have charismatic friends and have seen charismatic people who, despite a, shall we say, bland appearance, managed to be quite smooth. Some comedians actually embrace their appearance and turn it into joke, becoming more confident.
[2] Are the people (fictional or real) you see as "charismatic" add up to exactly that?
Don't think I understand the question. The people I see as charismatic add up to what I think charisma is, yes.
[3] Are you drawn to their charisma? If yes/no, why?
Being drawn implies attraction so I'm not so sure about charismatic guys. I like them, they're fun and cool to hang out with so there's the answer to that. Charismatic girls I've only met one which was awesome but I wasn't really attracted to her romantically.
[4] Do you believe anyone can be charismatic?
Of course. It's not like we're talking about myths.
[5] What makes a person a leader? What makes them a "good leader" to you? What is the difference to you?
Uhmm, leadership. Charisma. The difference is that one has an adjective, and the other doesn't lol
[6] Is their a leader you view as a "good leader" (fictional or real)? Why is he one to you?
At the risk of going into controversial issues, most, if not all, dictators in history were charismatic. As far as the rest of the question goes, maybe it's because I'm distracted, which I am, or I'm feeling bored, but these questions seem very redudant. Why is a good leader good? Because he has charisma.
[7] Do you find charisma necessary to be a leader?
Yes. Maybe not the type of charisma you use to make friends or impress girls but you certainly need a special quality about yourself that makes you different from everyone else and that makes you liked.

The way people envision things don't always align perfectly with their reality, I'm wondering if anyone has that type of experience in regards to this subject.

What is your subjective view of "good leadership". Noted and changed, from "good" to "great", I see the mistake I made. Not asserting that good is an assessment of quality not morality.

[1] What is charisma to you? Charisma to me means social skills
[1.5] Is it in physical appearances, expression, personality? It can play into it, but unless on the extreme sides of the spectrum it won't matter much.
[2] Are the people (fictional or real) you see as "charismatic" add up to exactly that? Yes.
[3] Are you drawn to their charisma? If yes/no, why? I was for the simple fact of the guy's confidence. He was able to get out of the car and talk to a woman, while we're in the middle of the street, that we had all been gawking at for the better part of a minute with absolutely no encouragement whatsoever. He was also absolutely hilarious in any situation.
[4] Do you believe anyone can be charismatic? Anyone can be charismatic with practice and the right teacher.
[5] What makes a person a leader? What makes them a "great leader" to you? What is the difference to you? A leader is a person that knows their role. They are strong, confident, and demand respect with their actions.
[6] Is their a leader you view as a "great leader" (fictional or real)? Why is he one to you? Kobe Bryant, despite jokes and court cases and marital problems, still, no matter what, managed to drop it all out of his mind during the time he spends on the court.
[7] Do you find charisma necessary to be a leader? No. Charisma is not needed, but strength is.

1. What is charisma to you?
The unique likability of someone.
1b. Is it in physical appearances, expression, personality?
I think it's all three. A Good looking person would have psychical charisma, Some with a good expression and personality would have regular charisma.
2. Are the people (fictional or real) you see as "charismatic" add up to exactly that?
Any politician can be seen as charismatic or tries to be seen. They work on all three of those areas when campaigning or talking on TV to be more relatable.
3. Are you drawn to their charisma? If yes/no, why?
No, because most people can be seen these ploys of trying to raise their likability. But other people can be thrown to by their likability even if it's a ploy for voters.
4. Do you believe anyone can be charismatic?
Yes. It depends on how confident you are in yourself, how good you like (not major requirement), how good you speak, and how well you express yourself. But with a little effort and practice, you can just as charismatic as any cult leader or politician.
5. What makes a person a leader? What makes them a "great leader" to you? What is the difference to you?
A leader is someone who rises above a group of equally qualified people and guide them according and efficient with success. The same as a leader but does it on a higher scale, more to risk, and your mess-ups are much more insufficient as his triumphs.
6. Is their a leader you view as a "great leader" (fictional or real)? Why is he one to you?
Lol. Tessa from Full Metal Panic. Yes, you could argue that sometimes she let her feeling get in the way of being a leader but when it was desperate times, her mess ups shadowed in comparison to his good decisions.
7. Do you find charisma necessary to be a leader?
Definitely especially with the part of Expression. If you don't know how to expression proper to those you're leading then you will lose.

It's so vague if you're trying to describe it with words, but it's something that you feel if you're with someone charismatic, and no, I don't think it's adjustable upon effort.

The others are Decision Making, Communication, and Adapting.
Decision making is obvious.
Communication is needed because how are you supposed to express your ideas to your subordinates if you can't communicate with them properly?
Adapting, you have to be able to adapt with the current situation in order to make a decision.

In what way do you define "Naturally charismatic"? Does this also mean someone can be of leader quality without being charismatic?Anyone can be a leader, but the problem is, without that charisma, are they a good leader? Do they have good followers? Will their followers follow them until the end of time?
Take a look at Hitler, he's a damn good leader, why? He's charismatic, his followers followed him all the time during the war, even though he's evil from our perspectives, think of it objectively.
