Prefer to say faithful, as religious holds such negative connotations these days. Yes, if you truly love someone and, truly believe in a religion, saying no is just like saying "I love you, but can't be with you because you don't believe what I do." Which normally ends a relationship badly, and will most likely turn that person off to your religion, which if you really love that person you hopefully shouldn't wish for. I'm in one now sadly. I met my girlfriend my Sophomore year of of College and she was an exchange student from Japan. We are both Senior's now so we have been in a LDR for over a year now.
