It's figurines like these that amaze me, and it's also figurines like these that make me cringe. Look at all those easily breakable parts. It's also figurines like these that are really expensive.
There's no way to access these things for me other than through online shopping, and I'm really scared of relying on delivery services to get those things to me unharmed.
I don't have any figurines yet, and I'm also unfamiliar with their actual durability regarding things such as transport. Looking at the Dizzy one, I don't think you can wrap it in enough crap to make the wings withstand even a slight impact. If anyone has experience on that matter please give me some input before I waste my money on it.

From the title's description, I figured you were talking about resin/cold cast figures, that AmiAmi notes are likely to break during shipping, and sometimes do. Even in those cases (neither of which you linked are), it's usually only a few hair fragments or something similar that can be easily glued back on.
The two figures you linked are so expensive because they were extremely popular during their run, and sold out almost immediately. They've both been out for quite some time now, and are still in high demand, despite being so old (if anything, that actually has increased the price over time.)
Typically, figures like the ones you linked, are packaged very well and don't sustain any damage over the course of shipping. Most of the big Japanese retailers are pretty good at packaging to prevent any damage even if the box is mishandled during transit, but even in the case the shipping container is damaged, usually the figure's contents remain fine do the blister blister style packaging. In my 3-4 years in the hobby, I've only ever had one case where the shipping box was damaged enough to damage the contents inside the box. Even then, it was only the figure's box that was damaged; the figure inside was fine.
And then you need to factor in the quality of the company producing the figure. Alter and GSC are two top notch companies, known for their quality (and beautiful figures); the figures they produce are usually very well made. Both companies are responsible for the occasional disappointment, but that's not really saying much when most fans expect them to be perfect all the time. I actually have the Dizzy figure on my desk right now, and despite being a little dusty, she has survived a few falls without any noticeable damage.

My very first figure was Misa from native 1/7 scale, she survived fall from 1.5 meter height when my cat decided that spear was very nice thing to play whit.
I nearly shat my pants when i saw it happen. I was sure that something would break, but its rather durable ;D
Besides even if figure breaks you can always glue that part back on, and paint over crack so its not noticeable. Tho i only suggest painting if you actually know what you doing, cos otherwise its very easy to mess up figures own colors.
PS: whit figures make sure that you have some place to put em on, where no one whos not supposed to wont get in touch whit your figures, like animals, or little kids, or your friends who don't know that fingerprints on figures leave mark, or weather conditions.
