So....why does no one give any credit to this man who just passed away?

He wasn't the poster boy for a brand. Still i didn't even know who is was.. maybe he didn't like the limelight and media whoring of his idea. Kind of like the Woz.

Because we aren't like those who cry out that Steve Jobs was a visionary. We let his work stand for itself and shape the future like he wanted it to. His work will remain in UNIX, and continue to be used for many years to come.

I think his work was a great contribution to computer science. I have respect for the man. My dearest condolences.

It's better to be appreciated by a small group of ppl that are worth something than hundreds of ppl that are waiting on the next cool thing to showoff to their friends.
He was a hero.

A true hero, one that stayed in the background without drawing attention to himself and let his work stand for itself.

Modesty doesn't lead to fame, but it leads to respect.
What matters is that he's still, even in death, remembered and loved by so many for his work. And to someone like him, that probably meant enough. :)

I'd rather be remembered by a few people who actually care rather than an army of fanboys who wont give a flying fuck after a couple of months. Fame does not equate to importance.

My friend made a blog post about him

Fame is indeed not important, but this man died without receiving the praise that he deserved. I never knew the man, but my friend's post really informed me about this unsung hero.
