No idea if i should post this in requests instead, but i'll try my luck here.
I've been using FlashGet 3.5 to download files from MediaFire in particular, but recently whenever I try to download a file, FlashGet dl's a file called index.html instead. Any idea why?
[size=10](Simple explaination please, I'm not much of a tech-head)[/h]
Also, do you recommend any other DL Acclerators, besides FlashGet?

Fakku's not the best place to ask this.
The use of Downloader accelerator on Fakku goes against the rules and is probably a bannable offense.

You won't get banned for that nor will anyone care if you use one. You can use it as you please on fakku. The rule is old and outdated and no longer has any baring.

How is it an offence? It's not offensive in any way, is it?

I use this.
Explanation: Your flash get's grab technology might be outdated.

If you're getting index.html then you're probably pasting the wrong link into Flashget? it always has to be an extension like .mp3 or .avi for it to work. Also most file sharing sites have blocked accelerator use. Great app, though. I remember the Firefox add on Flashgot often helped in getting past sites trying to block accelerators.

Try downloading something in Mediafire using that download accelerator. What is the size of that particular file you are downloading? What is the size of that .html file? If they have the same size then just try changing the file extension of that .html file into .rar or .zip.

Definitely JDownloader I use this with everything. It works with mediafire, megaupload, fileshare, depositfiles, rapidshare, etc. Exceptionally well with premium accounts!! I've tried IDM and many others but JDownloader is superb with frequent updates. HA I kinda sound like their spokesmodel don't I?

I think this would be the most likely possible answer
my way to fix this problem is using chrome, download the file like how you normally would,then press ctrl+j to bring up the list of downloaded/downloading files, copy the html link, then paste to the flashget.
works on most resources
