Ender's Game + Ender's Shadow

Last summer I took a break from reading manga all the time and picked up Ender's Game and I loved it. It lead me to read Ender's Shadow and the three books following in the series (Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets, and Shadow of the Giant). All great books and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is looking for a good sci-fi read.

I read the first one in high school, it was pretty good. Never looked into reading anymore of the series though...

Ender's Game is a great scifi book, definitely worth your time to read. There are actually sequels to it ( Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, Children of the Mind), but check those out only if you really really really loved Ender's Game. Orson Scott Card gets a lot more philosophical in those other books. He's got some great ideas (his Hierarchy of Alienness is very interesting) but overall, they felt somewhat muddled to me, not as good as the first book. The Ender's Shadow trilogy was good, but again, not as good as Ender's Game itself =).
If you're looking to get into some harder scifi, check out Alastair Reynolds' books (Pushing Ice).

last time I checked they kept on postponing the movie cause the scripts Orson Scott Card was writing were to long. please prove me wrong cause I would love to see a movie. Wish i could find my Ender Game novels so I can read them again :(

like copper said enders game was great but the actual sequels werent very good in my opinion. as for a the scenes being too violent for the movies...think about that for a second. if you cant find at least 10 movies that are much worse than anything that happened in enders game then you need glasses.

Yeah I really loved Ender's Game. I enjoyed the sequels but, I didn't like the shadow stuff all that much.

They are all great books. I personally loved the "Shadow" books because they were all about politics, diplomacy, and intrigue, which I love. Card also does a great job of writing his intelligent and scheming characters without making things seem completely ridiculous, for example, like in Edgar Allen Poe's detective novels.

I've read all the books in the series, but I think Enders Game, then the books about Bean were the best.
All of Card's writing is great.

I'll be honest. I loved everything in the Ender and Shadow series. The Ender series provided a philosophical aspect to how people carry out their lives in dealing with aliens. I thought the series was very moving and touching. Love exists in a most intimate way. (I'm a romantic - sue me.) As for the Shadow series, I liked them too because it provided a different perspective on how people conducted their lives while striving for peace, politics, manuveuring and all. And both novel series were ultimately about how to live your life, which was touching yet gripping at the same time.
