Yes, if I were a parent I wouldn't appreciate that you sent your apology through Facebook. I think it's better to apologize in person or at least via phone. Call them and ask if they've received your note on Facebook and then apologize to them once more.

In the future, I would download HDPhotoLock app from the appstore, it basically lets you store photo's in it, will synch to your computer, while letting you lock it so no one can view it. It's a wonder for keeping dirty photo's on an ios device.
