I know what you mean. I can't help but feel if he picked some random person no one would care. But as soon as you mess with the United States military it somehow becomes serious business.

Don't get me wrong, the military should be respected over all, but they don't deserve and more or less respect than anyone else.

Unfortunately, that fact will totally overshadow the point of this article. It shouldn't be about the fact that he is using military personal in his perversion, but that is the only part many are going to care about.

I know it a crime to impersonate a officer or state valor that they never did has a crime punishable in federal prison, but impersonating a dead soldier isn't a crime unless it for defrauding or ... don't know the tech term for getting a new id so you can hide your previous life.

Besides, he wasnt a hero. A dead soldier and a hero are different things, you arent heroic if you die bleeding all over the floor begging to go home so your mother can make you feel better. There are no heroes in war, only killers. Aside from that there is the factor of optimizing happiness. Whether this was ok or not depends on what you consider to be ethical. This guy assumed nobody would realize what he was doing and the act increased his happiness or pleasure thus a utilitarian would call this act moral and ethical. Basically what Im saying is WHO CARES? lol was it against the law? yea. was it lying? sure. Is he a ****? Probably. Does this mean we should care? Not really. The Us military is over rated and overly respected.

Honestly whether the guy was military or not doesn't matter to me it's still fucked up to use a dead guy's photo, yeah not certain that they knew the guy was dead(didn't read the article) or not but either way.
