Fall of Pokemon And Yugi-oh

Pokemon kind of died off for me personally once it went past 251 types of Pokemanz. The idea that you had to remember ALL of them, their types, their strengths, weaknesses, evolutions etc etc and that I had school was too much. I had to abandon either School or Pokemon...hard choice for some I know.
The show wasnt that good regardless. You knew Ash was never gonna be the greatest of all time because then he would of fulfiled his goal and the series would end, and thats the last thing the producers wanted, for the series to END. It kind of lost the buzz after the Johto League, at least around where I lived (I cant remember ANYTHING that happened after that).
I remember news reports about how cartoons were corrupting the youth of this age and how the past was so sweet and innocent (mickey mouse) and how Pokemon was BIGGER than that, they even bundled Pokemon in with South Park in terms of how much it corrupted minds!
As for Yu-Gi-Oh! it was sort of popular but no where the amount of Pokemon. I mean, I still played it up until reciently and there are still tournaments for it occationally which are actually still really popular. So the show has gone into a new season called 5D's where they duel on MOTORBIKES GOING 50 MILES AN HOUR DOWN A FREEWAY! and thats where we kind of lost it. Dont care about the series anymore, but the game itself lives on.

What ShaggyJebus said. I stopped playing the Pokemon games after leaf green and fire red came out. I stopped watching Yu-gi-oh! and Pokemon after the first season ended. I had grown out of it by then.

Stuff like Pokemon still has some nostalgic value for me... but the series itself.. the anime, went bad after the Johto's I think... or whenever Ash changed his outfit and Misty went AWOL. That did not sit well with the big dawg...
That being said, I kept watching XD, but I was younger... & still totally in love with the franchise, mind you, if it was still on a channel I got, I'd probably watch for lack of any other decent cartoons to watch... childrens tv has gone so downhill since I was a kid. I miss Medabots... Beyblade... Digimon even(love the movies XD) and all that jazz... all the BBC made series and stuff too, Ghost Hunter, Sir Gadabout...Aquilla... 90's stuff and early 00's stuff... nothing on now compares to it... all this Disney tween shite... makes me sad...

For Pokemon, I stopped somewhere in the Hoenn Region. Probably getting close to Lilycove City. I didn't stop because I didn't like it but because I had missed several episodes in the Hoenn region and I wanted to see those before I move with the show. This Sinnoh Arc is bad. I don't like the animations, I don't like the idea of having 3D in 2D when it's placed and not meant to blend in, and I hate the new voice actors(American).
I stopped with Yugioh for the same reason. I couldn't keep up with it. Then they introduced GX and 5D's. Card games on Motorcycles? I think I will watch that new Yugioh movie, it looks interesting.
I've played Pokemon and Yugioh, but Pokemon is the one I still play... the video game not the card game.

Pokemon: I stopped following it after Johto ends. Like everyone said there's too many Pokemon.
Yugioh: I stopped following after the first story ends (the end of the manga), like everyone else, I can't keep up with new cards. Well, Eventually 5D returned to the normal dueling style.
I'm still accepting challenges in yugioh though.

I grew up on the Pokemon craze: watched the show every morning, collected the cards(Ah, I still remember me opening that pack that contained that holographic Charizard; how I FREAKED in that Toys R Us), played the games, bought the merch, etc.
...
Now I'm a 21 year old woman who still plays Pokemon and I'll probably be a 22 year old woman who still plays Pokemon when Black/White comes out.
As for Yu-Gi-Oh! I never got into that; REALLY that piece of paper's got a heart? Who wrote that crap?

I grew up on Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh as well, but I was much more involved with how to play the Video Games/Card Games rather than the actual series, but when my mother thought that both were games of the Devil, Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh died for me.
I still find the games enjoyable, but I don't buy anything from either series.

HAHA! yes!! same! i got hooked on the shows + card game when it came out here! mind you.. i got into anime in general just as well..
but yeah.. i still play the games... although i stopped watching the tv series after i missed many eps due to highschool and whatnot back in the late 90's early 2000 so yeah.. gave up on following the anime.. but still have every game available.. well the good ones.. i dont count the photosnap or the the other random spinoffs as games IMO..
is it just me.. or did all the others like digimon, yugioh and such copy off pokemon??
like digimon was ok.. but the others were like.. k.. kids gets some animal/pet/robot/animate object and starts battling with it against others.. zzzzz
