Then there's the whole world war II, the eroge industry, their TV shows and their culture. I don't think Japan should change for anyone, but apparently the politicians care much more about what the world thinks of them. Hell, look at my own country, China, human rights abuse to the max, child labor, pollution, military, nukes, communism, yet something like 70% of the stuff used in western societies is made in China.

And yeah, they are trying to ban all rape games because of a certain CNN report on rapelay that made feminists rage.

The west is having an impact on japanese politics, true, but this is a whole different group of crackheads we're dealing with here. Theres nothing about said western values that has anything remotely to do with fictional characters. (aside from trademarks and whatnot)
