FML? STFU!

Are you sick to death of always hearing someone say "fuck my life"? (FML)
I mean I know I am! I'm so sick of it that I ended up punching my friend for saying it the other day. I swear, I cannot go a single day without seeing someone post "FML" on Facebook. Remember the old saying before "FML"? It was "life isn't fair." It seems like most of the people who say this are defeatists who break down and cry once they're presented with a challenge, without even trying! I don't know, this could be something worth discussing, or it could just be me venting. -_-
What do you guys think about this? Are you sick of always hearing it too?

Methinks this belongs more in the random forum, but hey!
I tend to Disregard 'FML' considering for the longest time I had no clue what it meant.
Even after figuring it out, unless the situation actually called for it (or is hilarious in its usage) I'll ignore said person, since they are obviously calling out for attention.
That being said, it is indeed overused and used in the stupidest of ways.

This probably belongs in Random or IB.
I interpret FML as more a frustration with life as opposed to being defeated and breaking down.

Well I never say FML. I have my own catch phrase- Whenever the shit hits the fan I say "The fun never stops."

I'm more tired of people complaining about idiotic and trivial things that don't really matter.I agree; the phrase itself irritates me a lot less than the fact that most of the things I see people use it in relation to are just not things I consider to be that serious. I mean, if someone is talking about how they lost their job and their car got towed and their wife left them, I see it's usage along the same lines as , 'shit sucks,' and I'm more or less ok with it. But generally, it's trivial shit.
And I don't see it used much on the faceyspace. But that's just the people I know, they just don't use that particular phrase. They say plenty of dumb shit, though, so I'm not worried.

You punched your friend over saying it? That's a bit extreme, no?It was just on the arm.

I do feel that the acronym FML has given people the excuse to unnecessarily emphasize their complaints / rants about the most trivial things ~ as a result, it is a pretty big pet peeve of mine. If you don't like something happening in your life, then do what's necessary to correct the problem, rather than complaining about it unnecessarily. By attaching fml to their complaint, it makes it really hard for me to take them seriously -- it makes their issue seem disingenuous. I don't use fml in conversation, and never will.

I can understand how a catchphrases could become annoying over time. Like how people on campus are using 4-chan memes in their conversations. Like fashion, this era of catch phrases will only last for 2-3 years and newer ones will pop up.

Didn't FML fall out of vogue yet?I hardly hear anyone say it now.
Yeah, I don't hear it too often either. Although, maybe the youngins in school still use it and, because I avoid them like the plague, that's why.
I do say it here and there, but its a rarity.
