Food you hate/cannot stand

My least favorite food, since early childhood was an Indian vegetable which is probably anglicized as "karela" or something. It's extremely bitter, horrible, and I've managed to avoid it since coming to America.

That made me think of caraille. Also know as bitter melon.
It's horrible stuff. Even if you cook it dead, it still tastes bad.

Is it the same thing?

I can't stand raw carrots but, I thoroughly enjoy them after they've been cooked.
Another would be celery- I don't like it alone but love it with some peanut butter.

I personally like raw carrots, the only thing I can't stand is the aftertaste...

Does the peanut butter cover up the taste of the celery?

My mother used to make a snack that had celery and peanut butter...You filled the valley of the celery with peanut butter and pressed raisins into the peanut butter...She called it Ants-on-a-Log.

I hated that snack.

That's what I dislike about raw carrots- the lingering bitterness(?)
And I don't think it's to mask the taste of celery,
just that I like them paired- something about peanut butter infused with
celery makes my taste buds go into a frenzy.

That sounds so tasty!
And I love raisins too.

Ah I see where you're coming from!

Cherry Kool-aid. I tried it yesterday. I got a headache from it and it tasted like the smell of paint. Never drinking it again.

Dude. Karelas are my favourite vegetable. The English name is bitter-gourd or bitter-melon.

The food I can't stand is raw onion. I've hated it pretty much all my life.

The snack was tasty...Just didn't like who was serving it, so I didn't eat it ^_^

That's probably where the phrase "Smoking Kool-aid" comes from.
I don't drink it, by the way. Same thing happens to me.

I'll try anything about once so some weird stuff I've tried and didn't like were frog legs, octopus, and oysters. Tomato soup and broccoli are the two normal things I don't like.

Tomato soup seems like an odd thing not to like...any particular reason why?

Mainly the smell. It's pretty much hot tomato juice which I can't stand the smell of either.

Hmmmm. This is a travesty which must be corrected...I shall get to work on it ^_^

I hate Indian food with a passion. All it is is just spicy flavored spice with more spice to give it that spicy texture. For some reason is like a freight train socking me in the gut on the way down.

Are you referring to beets that are raw or cooked? There is a vast taste and texture difference between raw beets and sauteed beets, or stewed beets or even pickled beets.

That's a shame. I love sliced, pickled beets on top of black beans and rice. And a bit of picnic fries on the side.
