Former gang members online, impossible?

Since 1981, California has suffered more than 16,000 gang-related homicides – a number that shocks. Homicide is the best documented measure of gang violence. For these reasons, we asked Professor George Tita and Allan Abrahamse to reconsider their previous study, which examined gang homicides from 1981 through 2001, in light of the most recent data (2002 through 2008). They found that, at a state level, the rate of gang killings has decreased since 2002. As always, however, the real story required some drilling down. Over the past five years, the City of Los Angeles has seen a 30 percent drop in gang homicides. In contrast, the rest of the state has experienced a nine percent increase and the counties with the largest increases are located principally in the Central Valley and points north (e.g., Tulare, Fresno, Stanislaus, and Santa Clara Counties). The study confirms what residents in these communities know too well:gangs and gang violence have robustly emerged throughout the state.
pay attention to that last bit the gangs are spreading and its not just cali there are other places too not just in America either.
I'm posting this just to clarify that its not impossible for former gang affiliates to be online and to be able to contribute useful and worthwhile information
I've been in California my whole life iv been to LA, Oakland and currently live in san Francisco, I've been involved in things I'm not proud of iv seen friends get killed iv been involved in a few violent incidents that had a rather bloody or often lethal end I've been attacked myself and long story short most of my friends in the gangs are dead or addicted to some sort of drug I left after the last of my friends died nothing left to protect and I wasn't going to just stay and watch the rest just kill themselves on drugs.
I was never fully in the gang because I never wanted to be they did try to jump me in a few times but I fought em off but I was sort of an advisor a lot of them liked my knowledge of military tactics and I trained a few of them in hand to hand and blade combat and they helped me get real experience with firearms rather then just the research and studying of firearms on I did on my own.
kids get killed too... first person I knew that died was 9 years old the guy was in my class I was 7 about 1 to 2 months from my 8th birthday he was just playing basketball with two other dudes it was a drive by the two older dudes took several shots to the stomach and he got two in the chest one in the neck and from what I heard he wasn't even the target he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
think about all that and tell me is it really so hard to believe that people such as gang members, gang affiliates, soldiers or any other variant of person that has been or still is in a kill or be killed situation to be online or for such a person to have enough intelligence to actually say something other then
"ME CRIP/BLOOD 136873867473635 REPRESENT ON NERD MACHINE"
yep I've seen the sterotypes all fkin insulting as hell but gotta admit some of them are pretty funny.
my point is don't go judging people or calling " liar liar" without hearing the full story I know there are wannabes and fakes out there but I'm just saying once you do proper research and hear the full story from a real survivor you can spot out the fakes and wannabes easily.
just to point out I am not looking for pity or sympathy its actually considered an insult to me I'm simply pointing out that people should be aware of what's going on in the world and not to judge people, insult or belittle them simply because they have a different view then you or just straight up disagree.

I usually don't get lost while reading but, what is your question/comment, OP?I bothered to read the whole post two times and I still don't get your point.
my question is simple why is it so hard to believe that there are people online who have a dark or bloody past
and I'm not just saying for myself or other former (and current) gang members and affiliates but for soldiers or milita groups or even people who have had a single violent incident even in acts of self defense people often end up dead or damn near close to dead and truth be told you don't even have to be involved in with any group/gang/malita to end up dead by a "wrong place wrong time" shooting but for some reason people tend to think that anyone who mentions knowing or seeing such areas or situations are fakes, imitators or wannabes.
Now I know that this is due to the lack of information or some people telling lies to try and "look cool" as if a violent lifestyle is a fad and this has taken things to a point where nobody is real everyone is a pathetic shit a total weakling that has done nothing, seen nothing, knows nothing, as if to devalue everyone entirely,
and that is often taken by people like me who have hardset values, morals and extreme views (that people would normally never achieve under normal and nonviolent circumstances) as a total insult and well I'm not saying these types of people are sensitive to the point they would cry and whine however I am pointing out that several of these people are extremely volatile
which is just something to note fact being iv known people who have gotten shot over a few words which physical fighting may not be the case online (although if you do happen to speak to anyone of these areas/violent natures for you own safety I do recommend being extremely carful of what you say and how you say it) it does tend to mean they will hold a grudge and may start spamming you or doing other things to try and irritate or get back at you, now not saying all of these types are like this (atleast I'm not) however a lot are

it's not that it's hard to believe. it's that it's hard to prove.
there's that famous troll post about the "former navy seal" that had "50 confirmed kills" and such and such. anyone can say anything on the internet.
you don't need a wall of text to explain that.

Spoiler:
I've actually seen that before on a few youtube flamewars I was in I couldn't help but start laughing and calling bullshit on everything cus I actually do know some people in the military my English teacher a bus driver I know a friends cousin in the marines a girl I'm interested in her sister is in the navy and she's planning on joining up too plus I was lucky enough to have the experience of being able to talk with an old ww2 vet(they were rare back then and now well.. I think there all pretty much dead now) and I'm planning on joining the reserves as well
so I've known people that are ranging from just barely starting in the military to extremely high rank deep in the military and I gotta say it doesn't take a professional military man to see the common sense (or in this case the common idiocy of that post) to be able to say that that's bullshit and a lot of the real military soldiers iv met think that's the biggest joke of all time also stating that if anyone actually tried to do something like that using military resources for a insignificant argument they would be forced to retire and possibly face jail time

But if the question is as the title states, no I don't think it's impossible. I do think it's improbable, but frankly that's just my stereotypical view.

yea and the thing I hate about that is while it may not be intentionally saying this its still implying that pretty much almost everyone who's been in such situations is either dead or to too stupid to know how to type and surf the internet

It's the internet, grow some balls. For someone who claimed to be not fully in a gang, you get butt hurt so quickly. I thought thugs don't give two shits about what people say?

It's the internet, everybody who plays the tough guy routine (saying they'll fight people and what not) Is generally not tough.
You'd be surprised how many people on here have fairly dark gritty pasts. Not gang related, but like parental abuse, sexual abuse, all that jazz.. Not exactly dark and gritty, but some of it is.

if I just gave my opinion on curtain subjects (aka drugs gangs shootings prostitution human trafficking weapon smuggling military tactics or other military or gang related subject) people would naturally assume that I either have an overinflated opinion or that I am a complete psychopath which I am not
on the flipside people would take notice of the fact that instead of being some random bystander with a less then educated oversized opinion I actually might have some valid points due to my past involvement in similar situations
and gang members often times do give a crap about what others think of them its just for different reasons then others or sometimes its suppressed however thug or not there still human and its more of a matter of respect vs disrespect pretty much if you get disrespected your supposed to beat down (or shoot) the one who disrespected you its a matter of looking tough the thought that if you let anyone walk all over you everyone will start doing it regardless of friend or foe everyone will take advantage of you in even the slightest moment or instance of weakness
and this is not the case online the view is still there the instinct is still there but its literally almost impossible to go and beat the crap outta someone online so instead you get flamers spammers and some trolls out of some highly intelligent people because they unfortunately are on some sort of revenge trip cus they were never taught to just let things go I will admit when I first started online I did this several times in fact but that was on youtube and after I had lost all respect for both youtubes owners and community this is not the case for fakku so don't worry

I've actually met a lot of these types of people initially I thought they would be the "poor me feel sorry for me" types cus my view of things are people involved in killing/dying situations take priority over those who had relationship issues or nonlethal bullying the parental abuse I do validate quite often though simply because while it may not always be of lethal intent it is very close in some cases however after I met a lot of these people and talked with them individually most of em aren't that bad some very jaded and cautious but also very friendly and smart.
don't know about people on here however that's not surprising since I haven't been here that long but I am open minded and I try not to be judgemental

Listen deathgod, if you're smart enough, you get to remember we're in the internet.Anybody can claim to have experienced horrors, be of a different gender, or have more than others (ie. money, wives, etc.).
-In horrors, they might be doing it for some sort of either attention/help/ regret (if it's true), or for their own laughs (if it's a lie).
-On gender, it's either to atrract attention, or maybe to fill their feeling of "being in the wrong body"..
-On having more than others, these are most likely trolls and excellent liars.
Lying on the internet is too easy, especially with our general innocence to believe everything, we fall right into the trolls trap.
What does the troll gain by the last part? To cause envy. Envy out of something inexistant. To make you feel less than them, depressed, angry with yourself. They waste countless hours to keep their act, in some sort of false attention-whoring just to cause you discomfort.
The moment you are skeptical on their extraordinary claims, you aren't being trolled, and you are one step ahead of the generally naive hoi polloi, and thus you are more aware of what is going on. Don't ever forget it. This is a heartfelt tip. Make sure to remember it.
oh I'm more then well aware of how the internet works and frankly I'm not the trusting type also I never said I believe everything that's tolled I just simply said that I make sure to listen to the whole story before I start calling bullshit on people cus the more people say the more flaws you can point out on simple personal (real life if you've been in said situations) experience or common knowledge basically I'm skeptical of everything its how I stayed alive but that doesn't mean I condone complete denial of what is quite possible
