for more professional stuff there's Maya which is the standard CG engine for most companies i think.

                        Well it depends what kind of gif images are you talking about...
As for Flash Im somewhat... "good" in it, though Im not really GOOD per-se...
But yeah if you need any help with gif images Im pretty sure I can help...

Err downloading maya for the purpose of doing gifs or flash is alittle extreme isnt it ^^;;
Anyway adobe flash or adobe photoshop is fine.
Shouldnt this be in the request or tech section btw?

Hey, hold on there cowboy. Maya for gifs or flashes? That's overkill.
For gifs I believe you can do it with GIMP (freeware), or my personal favorite Photoshop CS2 (any CS next to that is fine too; and it's not free. But torrents are your friends.).
For flashes there's Adobe flash and Macromedia flash.
Do keep in mind that gifs and flashes are completely different things. Gifs being pretty basic and flashes being a bit more hardcore.

                        For Flash games the hard part is the coding XD so while doing the Images / Animation Pics you might want to learn more of Coding ( If you already know how to code then disregard )

Please don't remind me the sad reality. Adobe bought flash, so there's no longer light, flawless and easy-to-use flash
