Gugu's dreams

My real Dream in life is to become an anime artist.

But sadly I know I'll end up going to law school to become an attorney.

But anyway it's been my dream since I was 12 and my dream gets stronger everytime I watch a good anime. Clannad <3

Anyway I don't know the first thing about drawing or even what to use, so it's more like a pipedream.

I thought I'd just share my dreams with the fellow members of fakku, and thought to make it open to discussion for any tips or advice.

May i ask why you going into law school ...?

I read that you have that dream since 12 years old ...

Are you meeting any obstacle that makes you can't chase your main dream ?

I don't know how to draw, what instruments to use, to start by hand or computer or any of that. I don't know where to find this information neither besides google, which isn't too much help.

Also I'm 18 so between 12-18 when I was in intermediate/high school, I was very busy between school work, sports, and working, so I never really had that much time on my hands to learn :/

But my one and only obstacle is my parents ....

My parents always said to me that i will never make a good money if i become an artist ...
well i respect them and here i am , forced to be a programmer ...

You have any Friend who know drawing ?
I'm lucky that i have one here .. he always taught me how to draw or coloring using Photoshop ... which i don't mastered it well !-_- ...

I can relate, I wanted to get into Music but my parents said there's no money in it... ~.~

So it was basically a dream you found nice/cool, but you never had the passion for drawing?

Start of tracing your hand, lol.
Just take a peice of paper, a pencil, and an imagination, and draw what comes to mind. It doesn't matter what it is, a boob, two boobs... three boobs(?), scenery, girls, guys, futas, anything. And don't worry about if it looks 'bad'. Nothing is bad, it's unique. And nothing can change that. Then just keep doing that. It's not tough.

Does your school offer an art class? Check your local colleges to see if you can audit a class in drawing just to learn if you really would like drawing.

I meant since you did not have time due to work and sports. Normally if you are passionate about something, you make time for it and try to prioritize other activities less. So from what you wrote it just seems like it is something you would like, which sounds cool (would like to do the same my self, but I am no good).

I may be wrong, or maybe we just put different meaning into what being passionate exactly entails.

One time I had those kind of dreams too, but I'm a bit too lazy to draw. Maybe I'll just become a good author, then I just have to find a good artist to draw the manga.

You can do it on the side. If drawing cant feed you then, I guess get another job til you get better enough to land a big one. I know of an author who works in an office like normal and writes books during her free time.

Ah~ Gil wants to learn to draw? Cool. Drawing can be very fun, especially if you draw from your mind, even moreso if it turns out to be good (I assume. I've never managed to do a good one myself~ XD).

Well if you acquire the ability to draw, which I hope you do for I love any kind of art (especially when I am friends with the artist), I suggest to do it on the side, if you are truely passionate about being an attorney.

When one sets a goal, they should never be swayed for, if they do, they will never truely be happy~^_^

Practice drawing on your spare time, when there's a will there's a way.
It's not like you'll be studying 24 / 7 right?

I suggest you practice on drawing realistic first. :')
It's easy to apply anime style once you are good at realistic drawing. ;D
