Has your hometown ever had a natural disaster?

Avalanches, mud slides, mountains jumping up and down on top of us, ice lions invading en masse, we've had it all.
In fact, we stage many of these as an annual event nowadays, because the serendipity of fancy schmancy flatlander life would bore our steel-tough faces off.

A huge wildfire happened a few years ago. Took forever to put out plus it spread about 3 miles and the sky was red while ash and soot fell. I wouldnt call it a Natural disaster but it was to the people who had lung problems and such.

Let's see. I have lived in Los Angeles and have had fires come through as well as earthquakes along with northern California. I have lived in Kodiak AK and had a tsunami wipe out the beaches and destroy a bunch of Gov't property and here in Alabama Hurricane Katrina hit.

There were a couple earthquakes a few years ago, but they were nothing major. Usually the tornadoes are what screw us up.

98 Montreal Ice Storm. in under 12 hours. Everything turned into ice. 10+inches of ice.
Best time of my life. Cause on that winter we just bought a new house up north at a ski resort and there was electricity. So i just had 1 more month of vacation while people were freezing in their homes.

Umm I think down our seafront theres been loads of fires, seriously we have so many fires down there which is kinda ironic since it's right near a big body of water. Although not so sure if they were natural or some prat not putting out his fag properly..
Oh and we felt the small effects of an earthquake...but it was tiny, you could barely call it an Earthquake, all my room did was creak a tiny bit. But us British people don't get that many natural disasters so when anything happens we tend to over-hype it.

Don't really have a hometown, but the state in my parent's native country was hit with an earthquake a while ago. We were living there for a few years but I was on a vacation in the States. I was told my grandma, that still lives there, was in the bathroom when it had hit.
Oh and there was that '96 blizzard in NJ when I was living up in Jersey City.

Montréal just lost power for what...3 Day. It was the less touch by the IceStorm, it was for the 'Black Triangle' south of Montréal that was touch like this for 1 month.
And lucky you for the 'vacation' north of there. I got a few day vacation to my uncle house with electricity. Remember the TvShow, showing the 'Black Triangle(name after the satelite seing a 'triangle' of darkness at night frome the touched town)' and making look more disastrous.

Not only my hometown but all towns around it got it to!
Waterflood disaster or something is it called in english, was around 1825 I think.
But anyway that was some time ago, yet not to long ago about 2/4years ago the water raised again and the whole dock of Delfzijl was "gone" everything was under water and I live rlly close to it.
About 1/2 more meters and I had no home anymore =(
We have those "water-gates" all aroud the docks but they werent made for this much water.
