Potraying hell?
Well, I would say Hell is beyond your worst nightmare, way beyond. That's what I learned when I did "Religion and Society" as my subject, so my way of explaining is a bit of religious.
The word Hell explain everything, so yeah.
PS: I don't want to start another religion topic, so let's leave it that way :D

I've lived in New Jersey, I know exactly what hell looks like, go to Newark after dark with anything valuable. As soon as you arrive, welcome to hell. strike that, join the Army, get an injury, get stuck in med-hold. THAT is hell, trust me I've been there.

Meh literal hell or figurative hell?Comsidering I have no way to portray the first, for the second it would be the simple indifference of society. Whilst others claim hell to be multi-personal, I believe hell is the stance of the world which is held to be uncaring for many such as those who are overlooked whether by greedy westerners who think suffering is minimum wage, lacking facilities, etc while a larger population of the world finds those as luxuries for the wealth or by those whose ailments cause them to be segregated or forgotten, even if they require more resources and higher intensity care, varying from the terminally ill who cannot afford skyrocketing perscription costs to people who suffer from a total lack of health care or a system that is extremely insufficient such as leper colonies that are once again rising in West Africa's ivory Coast or the massive AIDS/HIV epidemic within Africa as a whole. To simplify, people who actually think their lives are hell because of a simple event or something they could have influenced in any possible way are heartless assholes, there are a lot of people in worse condition than you, and hell shouldn't be treated lightly if we actually wish to be humane for once.

Hell is suppose to be impossible to imagine in the first place. But according to a Muslim friend of mine, Hell is suppose to burn with black flames that is WAY hotter than blue flames and the sinners' flesh are burned and replaced again for time immemorial.

Hell, well to each his own apply here.
So fire is not a problem to all of us.
How about hearing bieber for all eternity ? , fucking hellish i would say.
How about drowning? for evar?
Being in a state of starvation and not dying? just agonizing for evar.

I actually think hell (at least for me) would be a very cold, dark and lonely place. Similar to the movie "What Dreams May Come"
P.S. I can't stand the cold

In Dante's Inferno- the one portrayal of Hell that is probably most cited in all forms of literature- the deepest level of Hell- Cocytus, The Frozen Lake- is exactly that. A frozen lake, in which traitors are trapped in the ice, with giants as wardens and in which where the ultimate evil, Lucifer- the Fallen Angel- resides.
Also origin to the expression "Cold as Hell".

World's largest bonfire, eh?
Try the breaking through the crust of the earth and you'll find a planet sized one.

Ah yes, if I remember correctly Lucifer also feasts on your head and skins your back everyday for eternity. Of course Dante makes it sound a little more poetic lol.

Does it count as a fire if it's in a liquid state, though?

It's hot enough to burn/kill a human and sets other flammable things on fire when it comes into contact with them. I count it as fire on that basis
