hostage situation at the Discovery building

this is happening a few miles from where i live...
UPDATE: Corporal Dan Friz just described the man on TBD TV as a "hostage taker" and that it "appears he has some sort of explosive device on his person." Friz said that authorities are currently putting together a plan for dealing with the situation. No communication has been made with the man as of yet. Several tweeters and tipsters are telling DCist that police have responded en masse to the corporate headquarters of Discovery Communications in Silver Spring. In the last few minutes, approximately 30 police cars have surrounded the station. We have received tips that shots may have been fired inside the building. Streets around the building have been closed down. ABC7/TBD is reporting that the building has indeed been locked down and at least one shot has been fired -- stay tuned for more information on this breaking story.

Wow, this sucks.
Is this some sort of back series or what? First there is a hostage situation and masascre on Philippines, then there was a shootout in Poland (a man fired upon his family, than onto police, 7 wounded, the criminal was caught) then another shoot out in Slovakia (8 dead, including the perpetrator, 14 wounded).
Oh, and somebody firebombed Russian embassy in Minsk.

damn...well apparently they had to shoot him down. not sure if he's dead or not..but the police feared that the lives of the three hostages were in danger. but they still think there may be bombs in the building.

A pity, but nether the less, hostages should take priority over the hostage-taker.
Speaking of which, a number of news outlets claim that the man is apparently an ecological activist, who believed that Discovery Channel programs weren't doing anything to help Earth. He was apparently arrested once in front of the building, in 2008 for throwing money in the front of the building as a sign of protest against Discovery.
@Nekohime
Indeed. Though I think it may be a little too desperate recently.

The economy is making people freak out, and it's only getting worse because of how it is being reported.

Well apparently the hostages are safe and out of the building. Glad to see none of them were hurt.

Which raises the question.
Do swat snipers ever go "Boom Headshot!" when they kill someone?
