kgods: One of the best. Great choice.
I love how musicians today are crossing the "boundaries" of classical music by exploring all kinds of different styles and interpretations. Who would've thought ten years ago that the violin could be an outlet for hip hop or rock? Absolutely love what groups like Nuttin but Stringz do.
In regards to more traditional classical though, I hate how it carries the image of being an underwhelming genre that's "boring" or "stuffy". Barber's Adagio for Strings is the mother of all aural orgasms:
Buildup to 6:05 -- Holy shit, words can't even begin to describe. Such a powerful, haunting piece.

In my opinion, classical music has went a long way since it's first appearance... today, there are countless variants of it, and they can be pretty much everywhere.
Just look at most of the trailer music, particularly from Audiomachine or Two Steps from Hell. It's pretty much Carmina Burana 800 years later.
Which makes it even more awesome.
Actually, as someone who used to be classics fan, I'm rather happy seeing this genre evolve and reach a much wider range of listeners than is generally associated with it.

There's a difference between classical, remakes and symphonics. Anyway, here's some Chopin.

also, whenever i see people playing one winged angel, i wonder if they know what they are playing, and if they think it's corny

Classical music, difficult genre for me. I actually love the sound, but there is so much boring stuff out there. And really, I don't even like the old original classic compositions, and that's often the problem. As soon as I ask for recommendations stuff like Bach, Beethoven or Wolfgang gets thrown towards me, but that's not what I'm looking for, at least, from what I've heard up till now it doesn't seem like it is. But rarely do I get to heard something that really stands out for me. Except for soundtracks of movies, but usually I refrain from downloading/buying those because I rather strive for 'stand-alone' music than music that tries to accompany a certain movie with its own story and theme.
This is a track from one of the few albums up till now (that happens to be an OST) that really does something to me. Perhaps I'm just not that much into the whole thing, but it does interest me.
