I personally can't stand it. Overplayed and overdone. And not scientifically sound. How about you?
Of course it's sound. Say a virus adapts to take over the brain. It can shut down most of the other functions while it rewrites the brain to help it reproduce itself. Example of rewrite, humans are always releasing pheromones even though they are unaware of it. These pheromones are used mostly for mating, but the virus, rewrites our brains to think instead of sex, food! The mouth is the most germ filled part of the body and so the bite makes the natural transfer of the infection from one host to the next. The virus is just found a way around all the drugs and such we have been using for years to kill it and adapts in a new way to spread itself. Sure the other affects are gruesome deaths and ravenous former humans, but that's what makes it sound. Also the pheromones are how the zombies find live people no matter where they go, you can't stop yourself from making them.
Sure that part is okay, but there's no way for a zombie to be around for very long if muscles aren't being fueled by anything. Not to mention the rotting of the flesh. I don't see how it'd be something that'd destroy an entire civilization.
I'm no biologist, though. I just prefer my fiction to be rooted in some sort of science.
Well, I would think some part of of the digestive system would still be working so that certain parts would get the nutrients they need... granted its from the people they have eaten or even eating parts of themselves... but then if you explain it too much it loses its fun... but I do agree that the zombies couldn't last forever. The problem is outlasting them... and keeping the virus from spreading again.

The whole "Zombie Outbreak" concept is fun in theory. When used in games and movies it's pretty cool. In literature, the only thing I've read is the manga "High School of the Dead"; a decent manga. It's fun, but it's not something I'm overly fond of since it's become grossly overused in the last decade.

It's just good fun. As long as the creators don't try to take themselves seriously, any zombie flick is a hearty laugh.

i enjoy it especially if i'm playing a game with zombies in it with friends then its a lot more fun.

It keeps me entertained but I mean like Paradox_- said I do once and a while have that dream... Fighting off zombies really gets the blood pumping early in the morning.

Way overplayed. It's just a way for companies and corporations to get easy money. Walking Dead has good actors and an awesome director, great show for a zombie genre. Other than that, the theory of zombies is completely illogical. It's almost like a cover up for cannibals. Resident Evil was fun to an extent, but really, Resident Evil 6? Money just to be played with...

Usually I don't like it. Especially zombie shooters.. but then you have RE and the house of the dead series were pretty fun too..
And the only zombie anime so far I like is Sankarea..
So yeah, can't really give a definite answer.
I don't like the concept, but it can be very well executed.

I fucking love zombies, and so does my best friend. We sometimes discuss what we would do if there was a zombie apocalypse, just for fun. Zombies fucking rules.

There are some good ones but I think zombies are too mainstream now. Not saying that as a hipster but you can't deny that they seem way more prevalent within the last 2 years. Just about every video game has had an undead of some kind. Most usually do on average but it stood out more to me recently. I don't know if I am becoming more aware or if I am just stupid and just caught on.

I love zombie games (Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil -series-), but i'm not like some freaks who really WANT zombie apocalypse happens in real world. no... i can't stand it...

Well come on now, everyone has the 'zombie dream' of waking up somewhere with a few other people that specialize in somthing- then being told they are some of the few survivors in this zombie apocolypse and have to survive till they find a cure...or is that just me?Totally agree with you... I like to think sometimes that I'm the badass with the shotgun that has to kill one of the infected teammates, but, knowing me, I'd probably be one of the insignificant deaths in the beginning of the apocalypse.
That awkward moment when you're not a main character in a horror genre/sub-genre movie..

I loved to see people surviving in world full of zombies. Like... lets see.... the BEST was Dawn of The Dead really showing a great way to survive at world full of zombies. If zombies are taking control the world now in real world and things began turning just like in that movie... I will live happily ever after.

Seeing that I go to school and live every day like any other, I am a zombie.
In all seriousness, I think zombies themes are fun. I've watched a few zombie movies (Resident Evil, Dawn of the Dead), played a few games (Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, again Resident Evil), and even watched the TV series the Walking Dead.
Some people berate me for being interested in zombies, saying it's "stupid", but I think it's a great time-waster
