How Often do you PreOrder?

When you see the next hot movie, video game, anime, book, whatever, do you go to your nearest retailer and preorder said item? Or do you wait for it to come out, see if its any good and buy it when the price drops? Personaly, I'll be preordering my first anime, Clannad Theatrical from amazon, it has a price drop and I've noticed after some come out the price sky rockets outrageously. For games, if it's a company I know and love (DICE, Project(the Namco guys) etc) I'll usually preorder, I did for bfbc2, and will for Ace Combat Assault Horizon. But for games I'm unsure about like Black Ops, I waited two weeks for a used copy so its cheaper and I could return it if i didn't like it, which I haven't yet haha. Anyway what do you do?

I've actually never felt the need to pre-order anything, so far. But, observing the ups and downs of pricing on Amazon, I may do so, after all.

This year I pre-ordered An album and 3 games (one that I ended up canceling).
It all depends on money and what I get when i pre-order.
Other than that I just wait until it's released.

Never, it is equivalent to throwing away perfectly good money. Not always the case.

Pre ordering for me is just get it before the store opens... It's nice to work at best buy... well used to... still have friend's work there.

It depends entirely on the situation.
In the case of Call of Duty Black Ops, I pre-ordered my game in advance for two reasons; firstly to confirm the purchase and secondly to get a really cool image cell.
But...generally speaking no other games have the risk of being sold out. Assassins' Creed Brotherhood? That wasn't sold out; admittedly I brought it roughly 11 o'clock on the day of release. BFBC2? I've always hated it - and DICE make sucky multiplayer games anyway (BFBC2 and MOH) - but I heard no trouble was found in getting it.
I never pre-order DVDs. Since they get released so soon after the movie release; used to be like 6 months, now more like 2-3, it's kinda pointless buying so soon after. In terms of anime...none of the releases coming out have ever tempted me into pre-ordering them. However, I could imagine I would if the offer was like "Pre-order now, and get 20% off"; just wait till it drops otherwise.
Pretty much a subjective test, with some objective basics behind it.

I only pre-order when I there's a good deal, or a free item involved. Steam occasionally has special offers when you pre-order games. Some artists also bundle special items when you pre-order music.
I pre-ordered Doncamatic 7"/CD bundle with free poster offer. But it seems the offer is still available after the single was released, so I never really needed to pre-order.

rarely :/
I pre-ordered a manga recently, but i'd by most of my stuff in the local town centre, which will guarentee new products sooner than doing it online

I pre-order when it's really something that I love. The last thing I pre-ordered was 2ne1's "To Anyone" Album. Oh! Oh! Oh! I forgot that I just pre-ordered Takahashi Taku's "Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: The Original Soundtrack" album~ XD

I've never pre-ordered anything. Don't see what the point is in getting something early and such. When it comes to games, I usually buy it a few weeks after it came out, if I buy them at all.

I usually only pre-order something that I really want, or something that comes with a neat pre-order bonus. I also pre-order if the item is going to be in limited quantities.

Most of my latest game purchases have been pre-orders, same for quite a large part of the music I have bought.
