eeek...more like no control, but at least my brother did meet him and eventually gave his approval. me and my bro became pretty independent at a very early age. my mom raised us by herself and she could only do so much. i had to learn to do things alone and well, once i got into highschool and began to have a social life, she tried to take in the reins, but by that point, i was already pretty independent.

Open-minded about the dating part, I don't know if my parents knew I was having sex at that point but... Yeah, they're pretty laid back and open minded, and believe in "learn by your own mistakes" so I don't think they would have really cared.

well, i think the definition depends largely on what time period you are referring to in your life. for a 13 year old, compared to every other kid i knew that was my age, yeah pretty independent. obviously at 27 i would have a much different standard for what it means to be independent.
