How to ask a girl you met in class out?

Was there any context?
Because if not, and she really just simply said "Sorry, you're too nice."
Then be glad she turned you down. Girls who want bad or mean boys are unhealthy to be around anyways.

not much of a context really. she explained after what she said. she did not want me to be dragged down because of her. So she turned me down...

Meeehhhh... that's kind of a convoluted response.
It can mean many different things but really... all of them involve some amount of drama. Just let it go. You win some, you lose some.

Probably, it depends on the situation.
If you are friend with her back then, its not hard to find a common field/interest to talk about.
But if you are not that close (and you're a shy guy), better fix your back pack.
Chin up and get ready to be a man.

The thing is now is not to turn away and remove yourself from her life (or her from your life)
Im assuming you two are still on somewhat good terms so maintain a healthy friend/school friend relationship. by recovering quickly from your incident you'll show yourself to be open and hardy; not easily dejected by such events... You never know, give it a few months, people change (for the better)
For the mean time, respect her and see how your feelings really stack up on her. in the true case that you really have feelings for her, go for another shot later: otherwise move on :)
Unfortunately myself i don't have a real good grasp oen what to do exactly in your situaation, never prepared myself. but i've learnt a little confidence goes a long way

Sorry, my bad. It's just, I see a lot of people post their advice after the situation's already been resolved. Drove me nuts as to how ignorant people can be. So when I saw you posting, after he said he was turned down, I thought you just followed the first post. My bad. :/

It's ok. :)
I suppose i did kinda repeat some of what has already been said.
The advice i want to give is find out truly you (@guammastermind671) feel about her - ie would you want to possibly spend the rest of your life with her. and work your way from there

He probably didn't. And try again at another time when you have the chance. If she agrees, good for you. Else, give up and move on.

Couldn't put it better myself :) (only don't sulk over it - remain at least a friend)

Move on. Find another one. The world is not gonna end just because she rejected you. You may be "forever alone" now, but I ensure you it will not be forever that you stay alone.
REEMBER: Don't force yourself to the ones you're not happy with, neither to the ones that aren't much happy to you.
In that occasion, here is a poem:
