How to make a 3D Online RPG?
-1
Good day. It's been very boring playing RO so i've decided to look for a new RPG to play but i can't find a good one so i made my own. I've been doing this cool story line for a game. I also draw what the characters and some mobs will looks like. My question is what is the best programming language i can use to make a 3d online RPG game and what is the best way to learn it.. Thank you in advance.
PS: My life has no direction at all and for the first time, i found something that will make my boring life cycle useful. So thanks to those who will help. Peace!

I don't know much about programming though, I'm still a newb at that, but 3D Online games are made by many people. You sure you can handle that by yourself?
Why don't you start with something 2D-styled game with battles like Pokemon, Class of Heroes, and Gloria Union? That way you can reuse 2D drawings over and over again without making the game look bland. Kinda like visual-novel style.

prepare for a very difficult ride if you are going to go that big. I agree on the points that Nosebleed Madness has made.
There is no way that one person would be able to make a online 3d rpg. You'd need some sort of team to do that with.
If you are that determined, I'll list a few things/software that might push you in the right direction.
1. If you are starting out in 3d modelling [I have no doubts on this] look into Blender3D. Its a fully loaded modelling/game/movie suite. It's free as well, but the big pull for me is that you can export/import from the major 3d modelling programs such as 3DS Max and Maya. Tutorials are readily available from the beginner to the advance. I've use this for quite some time [since a bit before 2003]. It took me awhile to get 'ok' with this.
2. Time, you gotta have time yo.
3. Maybe outright programming shouldn't be a focus. There's a few 'no programming needed' engines that do the typed work for you. However, you still need the basics which is understanding Variables and Switches, Conditional events, etc. See this as the stepping stone. There are a few games made this way that became very popular. Yumi Nikki [RPGMaker 2k3], Karoshi Suicide Salaryman [Game Maker 7], The Laxis Power RPG series[RPGMaker 2k3/XP] are just a few that come to mind.
4. Motivation, without this you'll fall face first.
5. No cookie cutters, you'll have to innovate the rabbit out of a top hat. 3d online RPGs have been done several times over. Only the inventive ones break the 'bland' mold.

Spoiler:
Assuming you manage to get by all of these and produce an actual game, you also need to consider that as it is online, networking and server setup and management for said game (not to mention bandwidth and hosting costs). Like the rest of this stuff it's not an individual thing as stated before, and you'll probably want a large group with a bit of experience, time, and money to help fund your project.
Not to be a downer but alone you're really gonna struggle getting everything done, especially without any professional education to back you up. If you're as good as you say with story elements and art, then I suggest you work in a different genre of games, such as Visual novels? They have considerably less elements you need to worry about teaching yourself as if you were to make a full blown rpg. Plus, there are plenty of simple VN creators existing on the internet to further simplify the project. Just supply your own story, art, and music.

Oh i forgot to say that i actually talked to my friends(maybe 6 of them) that is all in the computer/programming field. Actually i have just finish the whole story last night including the 2nd chapter and it was really amazing. About the 3d blender, imma try it so i hope it works.
And i'm also aware of the expenses of making a online rpg. The host/server for the game to be online and i'm also willing to spend money for this project. Thank you.
If there are any other program you can share that can help me with my project kindly post it here. I'll update this thread on how my project is doing. Thank you again and peace!

Good luck! I know a few things that could help you but they are extremely advanced computer programming, and would take longer to make your game, but would come out better quality.

It's not the level of 'Someone can help you' it's the level of you need to learn your shit and have >3 years experience with sort of programming.
OP I'm not sure if you're really serious about this project or not but it seems you're underestimating the cost in time and finances of developing an indie game especially when you're trying to break into the already flooded MMORPG market.
Your game has to compete with the giants like WoW, Rift, EVE Online and the multitude of kmmorpgs.
All this without any experience, the fact you're asking us to help you with development shows you have no idea what you're actually doing.
My suggestion is to a) get someone with some idea of project management b) start on smaller projects c) get an artist on board to create your art assets.
Edit:
I'm not a project manager but just looking at how you're approaching this project: it's bound to fail.

This, I completely forgot about the VNs! I haven't made one before but I have been approached by a user through pm about making one. Sad to say I never heard back from him/her [always have Motivation, Motivation, Motivation] I was pretty excited to do one simply because its quite a easy venture and a nice breath of fresh air compared to the harder projects [3d fps, rpg, horror games, etc.]. So yea I'd choose this as a first project.
Also only go for Autodesk if you have the money for it. There is a pretty good reason why Blender is more versatile.
One thing I forgot to list is to place a deadline on yourself.

I should have been more specific: >3 years industry experience.

That's all you need in order to make Video Games.
My suggestions:
- Learn an Object Oriented Programming Language, example: C++
- Learn Vector Math Well.
- Learn Physics.
- Learn how to use a Graphics API, such as OpenGL or Direct X.
- Figure out which Game Engine to use for your game. Use this as your resource:
http://www.devmaster.net/engines/
- Learn some 3D modeling tools, such as Blender or Maya.
Most importantly:
- Start with small specific task and divide the workload among your team. Discuss with your team and find out their strengths and what they can contribute to the project. Set realistic death-lines and expectations.
- Try to be creative with your game theme or game mechanic.
- Play other RPG and find what you like about them and what does not like about them, and try to brainstorm to come up more unique ideas for your RPG game.
Good Luck.
