I am disappointed in Sankaku Complex.

Recently, Artefact has been making posts about so-called "bad fansubs." I don't have a problem with this. He also seems to be getting more mainstream advertising deals from companies like Funimation. I don't have a problem with this, either.

However, the fact of the matter is, these events are happening at nearly the same time, which leads me to believe that Artefact is being paid to make these posts. THIS is what I have a problem with. Has anyone else come to this conclusion?

It's fun the first few times you go there, but lately I've realized that Sankaku has just been the same old shit over and over.

Sankaku isn't really the place to find out what's completely right 100% of time. That place likes to be more negative than positive.

And so what if it is true? Money is everything, and everyone's precious independent untainted internet is built on just as much of an unsustainable bubble as the financial industry. A decade and a half of the internet has owed its existence to the assumption that big business will fork over large amounts of free money forever in order to display ads that most people block and nobody ever clicks. Surprise, turns out that doesn't last forever!

Lately popular websites have actually been having to PAY for their stuff again, and while that's not going to destroy the internet or anything, there's been some lasting subtle (and not-so-subtle) effects, and things are only going to get worse from here. Hell, check out E-H's new frontpage update if you want a reality check vis a vis a totally free internet where everyone is beautifully independent and doesn't ever do things for cash save for the pure camaraderie of donations.

SC is okay, but it isn't one of my actively browsed/visited websites.

I wouldn't talk shit on Arte though, outside of being sort of a megalomaniac, he's an alright guy.

Funny thing is he doesn't know shit about what "Trollsubs" are. I loved seeing shows I worked on there. Feels good man.

ahh the internet, where people with little to no information about things wiki and speak as if they majored in the subject at Harvard or Yale. He should consider speaking with others who are experts on a subject before he writes something, oh wait; what's what a professional writer would do.

If I was that Artefact guy I would do the exact same thing. Screw your values.
