I feel like i did the right thing

I basically told my Girlfriend i'm into hentai and i asked her if she had a problem with it. She told me she didn't mind me looking at porn in general. Some of my friends heard about this and thought i was lacking common sense, have no respect, called me sad, etc. i feel like i did the right thing, i wanted to be honest. Have you guys ever had this happened to you?

I think what you did was good. It is a good idea to tell her about these things so that it doesn't one day cause problems. If she did not agree with you watching/reading hentai, then you might also want to consider if you want to continue in the relationship. Only relationship I was ever in actually ended in with this being one of the major reasons for it ending.

Personally I would say goodbye to your "friends." Though that is entirely up to you.

I've told some boyfriends about my hentai interests and have had good and bad experiences. Let's just say that the relationship I'm currently in was a good one. You shouldn't be judged for your hobbies and interests no matter what they are in (unless they break serious laws and morals, that I can't help you with). Personally if it were me and my friends were giving me shit for liking hentai(which they do in their normal loving way) then I would just be a dick about their fetishes as well(which I do in my normal loving way).

It seems like a fair amount of people have experiences with people shutting them out because of what they're into, especially with porn. I've never really experienced that.

It should be implied that all guys watch porn, even when having gf. Hentai is just an specific kind of porn and nothing to be ashamed of. So neither she should mind, neither should you feel bad for it. And talking about it just depends on how your relationship works
