I Gotta Be Fucking Jinxed Or Something

I swear, the time I finally get a fucking job interview set-up, I have to meet my would-be manager 40 miles away, just outside Cincinnati. The time we agreed on was originally 1:00 PM. However, at 12:30 she calls in saying she might be late and would have to meet me at 2:00 PM. Anyway, about an hour later I had a friend give me a lift down there (I was too cheap to buy gas at the time) and while I'm waiting I get a text from her, saying she's having car troubles and won't be there around 3. Only minutes after that, she texts me again, telling me that she'll have to cancel. We took an effort to salvage the trip by raiding a nearby fye and getting something to eat. Shortly after that my friend and I head back and my friend makes plans to pick up his girlfriend after dropping me off. About 20 minutes later, I get another text from my would-be manager saying she can suddenly make the 3:00 PM meeting (this is 15 minutes prior). I was forced to cancel this time as 1) I was already 5 mintues from my home, 2) my friend had plans and I already owe him for drving me down there once, and 3) refueling my car before driving 40+ miles back would undoubtedly make me late (especially since 3-5 is rush hour(s)). I texted back, saying I couldn't make it and asked if she could reschedule, perhaps at a closer location. I got no reply.
Since then, I haven't been able to get in touch with her again via texting, phone calls, etc. Hell, when I try calling her, I keep getting this message from Cricket that her number's been temporarily disconnected. So I'm pretty sure that this job is a lost cause. Which sucks cuz it covers the weekends and pays $8.00 an hour PLUS commision, effectively making it a perfect college job.
In short, Ohio sucks ass for job hunting.

Never cancel job interviews, Employers will reject you if you do. Try to reschedule, citing whatever reasons you come up with, but never ever cancel.

Aw man, sorry to hear that. She definitely made a bitch move, IMO.
Hope you find a job that is just as good.
But that's what he did. He said he couldn't make it and offered to reschedule, but she didn't reply.

I tend to make up some really over the top excuse on the rare occasions when I've had to reschedule. Even then, I still feel that Employers don't like it. Picky bastards. Hopefully you'll pick up something soon.

Hopefully you'll pick up something soon. I don't think that'd work in a situation where the person that'll supposedly hire you was late due to 'car troubles'. Besides, I told her that my friend (and driver) already had plans and that I didn't want to keep him (which I didn't) and that I had already left some time before she un-canceled (which I did) and couldn't make it back anyway (too expensive/taxing/time consuming).

I'm sorry for the missed opportunity but honestly...would you really want to work for a b*tch like that? It doesn't sound very professional the way she behaved!!!!

you should try job hunting out here in arizona, nothing short of a joke. I've had three interviews at places for jobs, and everytime I don't hear anything back from them, come to find out (and no offence to any mexican people) some mexican person is working the job I could of had and at a cheaper work wage.

Considering that I am half-Mexican myself, I've had absolutely no luck with online applications and even when I turn in physical applications, I never hear back from them again. And I'm in the middle of Ohio, a state where there aren't that many minorities outside of Cleveland. Hell, at this place, being able to list yourself as non-white is a good thing.

Is this inconsiderate person the type that you would want to be your manager anyway?
And I can also vouch for the not very culturally diverse nature of Ohio ~_~;;

Considering that my current manager hasn't given me any hours to work in the last 3 months, I feel that an unreliable manager would still be something of a step-up from my present situation. That is, assuming I get to actually work.

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
It wasn't too hard finding a job when I lived in Ohio, granted that was some 40 miles west of Toledo, probably a different job market there.
Anywho, I've always had luck with those job agencies that look shit up for you, like Kelly Services, or Randstad.
Especially here in Pennsylvania, no one seems to care about you unless you have some company doing it for you, strange.

I got lucky, but it took me a while of applying. I know what you mean when you say Ohio sucks.

Looking for a job in Michigan is absolutely fucked as well. After months of applying I finally have an interview this week, and I only got that because I worked at another location of the same restaurant before.
