I seriously love Thrash metal music and I can play guitar (Some what) bu the problem is I can't read sheet music or Tab sheets for that matter and also I can't play any proper chords I always Bar my riffs using mostly the 5th asnd 6th strings alternating between the 4th string. I've been at the guitar for atleast 2 years and I still can't play any proper chords its just I find it so damn hard to put my fingers in such awkward positions on the fret board just to play 1 note never mind playing a whole fucking song I think it might be easier to play a 4 string bass.
as for drums I can keep a steady beat but I can't use double bass drums because my left leg is fucked from a leg break I suffered 2 years ago as a song writer I can write some pretty could lyrics. I've written about 5 songs 4 of them in 2009 and 1 in 2008 also theirs several unfinished songs. But if I ever got into a band I have the perfect name for it "TORTURED SKULL" I based it off this song from Canadian Thrash Metal band Razor.

Just keep at it, don't slack off, and you'll get there. Practice makes perfect.
If you want to be a rhythm guitarist in a thrash band, I don't think you'd ever need any more than the E and A string anyway, lol.
Is your rhythm good? If so, bass really might be your thing. I got sausage fingers and find it damn hard to play anything other than open chords on guitar. But meh, I never really practice, so... but exactly that may be your problem.
Even practice stuff if you don't like it, everything has its merits.
