Internet Memes, why are they so negative?
0
There's a reason i put this in SD, because i half expected a wave of single image responses if i put it anywhere else. So let's try to keep this somewhat on topic friends.
I noticed that there are very few, if any positive Internet memes. most are negative Cool Story Bro, TL;DR... to name a few. Is there any particular reason why that is? why isn't there a "Good read" meme etc.
also i'm not claiming any moral high ground here, since i use those memes just as much as the rest.

Because the point is to try to be funny one way or another. I try hard to step away from memes, especially in real life even though I am guilty of using a couple but usually occurring on my own time.
Inside other people, morality doesn't exist, or at least think less of it. I do find it hilarious to see how moralfags tend to keep putting in "right and wrong" into their sense of thinking. "You and your sister can't be in love, that's not right, fuckface." And then we can use their sense of judgement to screw them over even if we don't exactly mean what we say cause, usually, no one knows you on the internet.
Memes don't really have "real" meaning anymore other than being hurrdurr-it's-funny-if-you-get-it jokes.
TL;DR: Why that is? It's for the lulz
You don't get much results from the other side if you just bring out a positive attitude.

+1 is a positive internet meme. It doesn't come from 4chan, but people do literally say or write "+1" when they like something someone said/posted.

Spoiler:
I keep learning these new memes, people need to start typing out words, there's going to be to many for me to keep up with at some point. Anyhow, i wasn't aware of that one.

I always thought "+1" means you upped your post count just to get through certain limitations in a message board or a blog or something. Other than that I've never seen it used for any other purpose.

Sometimes you even see "like" buttons on sites that are just "+1."

Honestly, I would think it's because the majority of internet people happen to crave attention at every possible moment, and hey, most of the times even in real life, a "sure fire" way of doing that is doing something "funny." As people on stage usually crack bad jokes to get a reaction from the crowd, so do people who do these kinds of memes, usually for the attention and "lulz" and they usually do produce results, mostly flames or more people who do the same.
IvIajoi2n, I would think that there's usually no "Good" memes purely because it's like the media industry, "good" = "boring," the crappy memes that we suffer are the result of crude and unsophisticated humor meant to draw out our attention, be it a flame because of how lame it is or just an exasperated response.

Memes have become so unoriginal.
I use to be a 25 year old power lifter.
Also, this doesn't seem to be SD material.

I would guess that most memes are negative because the majority of people who create them are bitter, lonely, virgin, shut ins who "live" through the internet. this theorey can also explain the excessive amount of cat themed internet fodder, as cats are the pet of choice for the afore mentioned persons.

Because most internet users like playing cynical Nietzsche-wannabe, knows-it-all jerks. Which they do with very varying degrees success. And there's the whole crowd mentality. Suddenly few people post negative comments/memes/whatever loud and long enough and voila, everyone does the same thing to fit in. Well, not everyone, but a lot of people probably do that sort of thing, consciously or not.
I'm guessing it's a new "cool" thing to be negative.
That and it's time-proven method that the best way to feel better about yourself is laugh at misfortune of a fellow Man.

Majority are negative because, at least in theory, the people online that use them stay anonymous. No, this is not a reference to any -chans out there. If you know (or at least think) that you can get into trouble for anything you say or do, then you are going to say/do whatever you want.

It's like why diaries are never written in on the best days of one's life: you don't vent to seek solace during the happy times, but during the bad times!

Seeing as the internet is the only place where free speech is allowed, and the fact that people are assholes,I'd be surprised if it was any different.
