Well I took a quick look through Free programs that do cool things and didn't see what I was looking for so here's a topic. I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a good program to use as a substitute for itunes.

There are alternatives such as SongBird and plugins for Winamp, but seriously, if you intend to sync with an iPod, there are no programs that do a better job than iTunes. It's what iTunes is made for, after all...

I've been using Winamp for years and its awesome. You don't need a plugin for iPod support as its built in. I'm also a person who likes dark UIs and Winamps is just the most eye pleasing to me. Also the Milkdrop visualization is badass. Never had a problem syncing music to any music player. You can customize where it throws the songs on it and where to put playlists and even what formats the player supports and the level of transcoding to do if it has to.
Just look at the awesome:

http://www.floola.com/Hey, this is a pretty cool app. It's certainly not an iTunes replacement, but it's very fast and slick. I like it.

http://www.floola.com/I have never heard of this for Linux, although it appears that it is cross-platform for any system except for maybe BSD/Solaris based Unix.
Of course... I left my old iPod classic on a flight in Costa Rica.... so I am not interested in this kind of software anymore.

Wait, so it's possible to sync an iPod to something other than that annoying program? How long until Apple sues them? :/
