I used to run 8 miles a day, but now I have trouble doing 1 mile all thanks to smoking and not exercising like I used to...

I'm so out of shape, i need to start with just walking.
i saw a thing about running shoes. some doctor guy did a study and found that all those fancy expensive cushioned shoes actualy caused more injuries. he studyed those olympic marothon guy from africa who don't even wear shoes, and compared to people with the fancy shoes, the african dudes had way less injuries.
so when i do get around to running, i'll be wearing my chuck taylors.

I wouldn't run in chucks... they're very bad for running because they're cheaply made and have no shock resistance, trust me... for the first year I ran I used vans off the wall canvas shoes... got alot of shin splints from them.
The African runners train barefoot for years before they run marathons / in the Olympics and besides, the ground is alot softer over there because they don't run on concrete like you probably will :)
But yes, I run. Have done for 5 years on and off :) Best pace I got to was one km in 4.5 minutes... keep getting lazy when new rpgs come out and really loose my stride :/
