Just a pointless little situation

Here's how it goes:
I am currently living with my family right now. My older brother also lives with us, so he used my laptop without my permission and played Snow Sakura. He then made fun of how I was a hentai freak. I told him to fuck off and go eat a dick, but this only lead to a fight to where he told me I was a psychopath for crying over a girl who isn't even real, BTW I cried because he beat my ass down good. He says he is gonna tell my father I am crazy so that he could take me to a psychiatrist. I can't just leave things at this, I am out of the job and have no money. As I see it, I can stay and confront my father who will probably make me go to a therapist, or I can pack my things and leave to somewhere. Since I have no one to give me advice but teh internet, I'll ask you. What should I do?

Let them pay for the therapist, if it comes to that. They'll have no idea what you actually talk about with this person, so you could be free to vent on how much they suck for an hour. While THEY pay for it.

I see no problem with crying over a good/sad ending in an Eroge, or anything for that matter. Kanon's a good anime example of this; if you've watched it and haven't even sniffled from all of the tragedy, then you're either lying about it or have no soul.

Seeing a psych isn't bad, I've been seeing one for the past year. Plus, it's coming out for your dad's pocket, it's not like you have to pay for it.

Going to see a shrink ain't all that bad, buddy. And as Joe said- if you're of legal age- you can request that their policy of confidentiality exclude your parents as well. Then you can vent to someone who will actually listen. I've visited three in my lifetime for issues far worse than being a geek.

And that's if it even comes down to that. Siblings often make threats that they never actually intend to follow through with- nor is there any guarantee that your father will automatically think that you're some depraved nutter.

And unless you live in a seriously fucked-up family, moving out is rarely a good idea. Especially over what really oughta be a trivial matter.

When the confrontation does come about, all I can say is don't lose your head. If you can make your points calmly and rationally, it'll haft the odds in your favour.

Or you can just let yourself be labeled as a freak and use it as an excuse to compulsively kick your brother in the nads every time he says 'the'.

Sorted it out with my father, he says he understands(?), but says I shouldn't let this become an addiction. We really didn't talk about it, we talked more about how my brothers ruined their lives and how to not become like them. In the end, he told me to stop my hobby or it will lead me down a path of addiction and that I should consider seeing a the rapist. My father really is a wise and understanding man, but the same cannot be said to my brother, who is probably bragging to the rest of the family that I am insane.

This event has made me realize that I should cut off contact with almost all my family members, get a job, and move into my own place. To be honest, I really did think for a moment that I did cry for 2D girl, not because of the pain. I need to find myself...

I'm still gonna play eroge though.

EDIT: I did grow up in a pretty fucked up home and my siblings have did some despicable things to me. My brother did tell other family members what happened.

You are you, nothing will change that. My family, even my own parents, are not aware of my fascination (to put it bluntly) with anime, manga, and eroge, and I'm quite sure if I tell them about it, they will never understand. To me, it's not really an addiction, just a secretive hobby (along my other secretive hobby: Warhammer 40,000, which, oddly enough, is on a spectrum completely opposite of the land of moe and kawaii). You should try to get out and do something athletic or an extracurricular activity as it'll most likely improve your standing with your dad.

Or better yet, make yourself a model offspring. Don't fall into addiction like what your father says your brothers did. Do well. Be successful, and blow their reputation out of the water.

I'm assuming that your father is probably basing his decision off a generalization. That's like saying all videogames are violent because a very minute group of people went out killed with videogames as a loose reference. And that argument in specific is complete and utter bull.

Well you could just tell them straight-up that you like that stuff and that that doesn't make you crazy. Plus, running away makes 'em think you really are crazy and if they find you, you're just gonna end up in therapy anyways.

thats a high gamble choice. forcing it all on them is just going to make the situation worse and make it seem like he's pushing his hobbies onto other people.

Secondly, your hobbies are your hobbies. As long as they don't get out of hand, nobody has any right to tell you what you do in your spare time.
