I've been reading up on her a bit, and I have to say out of all the mainstream 'artists' she probably pisses me off the most.

I don't know how to describe her other than trash, and I'm not typically the kind of person that goes around going 'booooooo' to all mainstream music, because some of it can be quite catchy.

The reason she just grinds my nerves so much is how obnoxious she is. I haven't seen one interview where she's talked about being grateful for her fans, or anything besides herself. It's all about Kesha Kesha Kesha with her.

I listened to her explain her dollar sign in her name, and she was saying that it was to be ironic, that she doesn't 'have money, so the dollar sign represents that she is her money, because she doesn't have any' What does that even mean?

I don't understand how the girl doesn't have any money either. She has several songs auto tuned the fuck out reaching top charts, yet she doesn't have any money?

I think this could be attributed to the fact that she knows her music is trash, and anyone who would pay for it is a terrible person. If I was making piss poor shit like hers, I wouldn't give a fuck about the people listening to my garbage.



Unless you're top of the charts for several years or own a record company, I'm pretty sure you're making less than six figures unless you've found a very efficient and cost-effective way of cutting out several middle men.

I wouldn't classify myself as hating all mainstream music either, but a good 80% of it is identically raped in production and absent of anything that can rightly be called lyricism. Thankfully I keep well away from celebrity gossip, and have only caught fleeting glimpses of pictures and articles, but as 'media icons' go I wouldn't classify her as anything more than an interesting phenomenon. I can't keep up with the amount of terrible people making $$$, to be honest.

I guess I should be grateful that I have no idea who all these mainstream people are. Music has left me behind.

Her trashiness is part of the image she is selling along with her music. Ke$ha is her persona as a musician. And thinking about what Ke$sha represents, of course she is not going to thank her fans. The deal with the attention and money is the same thing. Her image is that of someone who parties with reckless abandon and without regard to the consequences but who, unlike someone like Lady GaGa, doesn't display the kind of wealth and class that would allow for a life of luxury. Considering how many people can't afford the nice clothes, fancy cars, and luxurious champagne that appears in a lot of the mainstream music videos about partying, there is probably a good bit of appeal to what she represents. She is basically saying "fuck you" to someone like Jay-Z's suave image of luxury and detachment and that having a good time is about throwing away pretentiousness and inhibition and going wild.

As for the autotune, that's standard practice in the music industry. You can't really criticize her in particular for that. Almost everyone does it.

I don't know how long Ke$ha will last, but I think she is pretty savvy with her music and how she markets herself, and I don't think she is going to just disappear overnight.

I'm not so into her, but all of Ke$ha's songs aren't bad. I've listened to her album and the songs that aren't popular are actually good. Unfortunately, she's known for her "much less than adequate" songs, similar to many other artists. On a side note, she needs to SERIOUSLY stop putting glitter on herself; it's disgusting.
