Quick question, everyone says how kimchi is good for you're health and all, but are there any non healthy side effects of it? I don't want to know how good it is, just what might be bad.

Even the most healthy food eaten in big amounts can be unhealthy, as far as I know kimchi is quite healthy, as long as you dont overdo it I dont see any downsides, it has vitamine C and carotene. Unless of course youre intolerant to some intrigents? Also there are various sorts of kimchi based on the season.

I recall somewhere that Korea and Japan have the highest rates of gastric cancer in the world which is supposedly related to eating preserved foods. Don't know if it has anything to do with eating kimchi.

Well even if it does its obvious that they eat too much of it in that case, as much as I know there is no real problem with kimchi.

^ Wow, we should tell the media and revolutionize the world of healthy eating. The legendary Korean food is no more! Do you think that actually harms kimchi's status as the healthiest food? Meh, probably not.

Yup, the main reason why I only eat kimchi at korean BBQ restaurants and only a little to accompany the other flavors.

Nope there aren't any unhealthy side effects but mind you Koreans do like canned food which maybe the cause of gastric cancer (Trust me I'm Korean myself)

Tempe is far healthier. I dunno what's the english word for "tempe", it's Indonesian traditional food made of fermented soybean. Moreover, tempe is very versatile and can be cooked into various dishes, from traditional Indonesian food to modern western food.
Google it for more info about tempe, tp lazy to post any here.

No, it's different.
It's like this
Spoiler:
Far more nutritious than tofu, and personally, I like it better.
Unfortunately, it is still classified as "low class food" by the people in my country.
