Let Me In

I honestly don't know how I should feel about this movie. At the moment I'm leaning towards disappointment, but not in the way you think. Let Me In is an American remake of the Swedish film Let The Right One In. Now, I've seen the original and it's easily my favorite vampire film. What disappoints me about the remake is the fact that the original was made in 2008, which leads me to believe that the reason why they remade the movie was due to the serious lack of interest most Americans have for foreign films.
Here's the basic plot description taken from Yahoo movies, as I'm too lazy to describe the movie myself.
From what I've seen from the trailers, Let Me In seems to follow the story of Let The Right One In rather closely, so it should be a pretty good adaptation. However what bothers me the most is the lead actress. She doesn't seem to fill the role quite right. I dunno maybe it's just me. So anyone else planning on whatching this movie?

I'm curious to see how well "Hit-Girl" does in this film. I'm also interested in what they'll change and how they'll go about the whole changing scene.
I'll also go see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Im a little dissapointed that some people cant get past the idea that if it in another language, its simply unwatchable.
They have to remake the WHOLE movie just to appeal to that crowd? are they that out of ideas? start remaking movies from 2008?
Anyway, I digress, what I meant to say was from the way the people who actually watched the first one reacted to it (its rated the second greatest vampire movie ever on rottentomatoes.com) I doubt this remake can live up to those expectations. Im all for remakes, but from the trailer it doesnt look the least bit different from the original in any sense, not better in casting, not better in effects, not even better in story. Then again it could just be the trailer.
Ill hold off on all final judgments until I have a look at it, but chances are they are just trying to catch the tail end of the vampire craze which is burning out fast.
PS. Imagine a remake of girl with the dragon tattoo during 2011 with an english cast. How would you feel about that? :P

I'm confused if you know or not that there's already one in the works. Rooney Mara is set to play Lisbeth and Daniel Craig as Mikael.

Hopefully they won't fuck it up as badly as they did the DVD subtitles.
I'm also very interested to see how Moretz does. I thought she played the role of 'Hit Girl' well, but I'm not convinced that she can pull off the kind of acting that this film's atmosphere will demand.

Hollywood has an obsession of "making movies better" even when they are already million dollar projects. They end up making them worse but that's Hollywood.
Also they like to release movies in theaters and its hard to release a movie in theaters when its on DVD already. Plus its fucking hard to acquire foreign films cause well there foreign so most Americans can't watch them. I'll be honest I streamed "LTROI" cause I don't like buying movies before I watch them.
And the effects are pretty weak in the original lets just be honest. I mean how can that be your beef with the movie? Dont be mad at the movie be mad at the studio that made the decision. Then again Hit Girl is the star so why you complaining anyway... "However what bothers me the most is the lead actress. She doesn't seem to fill the role quite right." Respectfully.... Fuck you good sir and good day... I said Good day!
Ok with that out of the way FUCK YEAH Hit Girl that's all I needed to know oh wait and one of my Fav movies oh shit I guess I need to hear more... Wait bigger budget more action and cooler effects well and Hit Girl what could go wrong?
Spoiler:
Well it seems to have changed a bit the boy seems to have more doubts about eli oh sorry "Abby" and now there's a cop with what seems to be a main role who knows I mean Hit Girl could save the day. I'll I'm saying is that it better end the same way or it will suck.

If Hollywood doesn't fuck it up it just might be the curse breaker.
I've seen the original and I have to say it is the best vampire love story I've seen!
Twilight was retarded in the fact that that fairy, I mean "vampire", didn't wanna have sex.
I mean, he's immortal and a teenager and he picks not to have sex?
Yeah, I don't buy that, even if it were a girl vampire.
It felt like vampires with purity rings and chastity belts...
But with LTROI, sure they didn't have sex or anything, but that's because instead of HS kids they were middle school kids.
I think. May have been late elementary.
But anyway, because they were young it made the love that came at the end seem pure/real and not forced/fake.
Sorry if I'm not making sense, its late here! lol

Well the reviews have started to come in and they seem to indicate that it retains those powerful emotions of the original, but doesnt bring anything new to it. It hasnt open very widely and isnt bringing in a great deal of box office, which I cant say im surprised by given the box office returns from the original. It will make most of its money through DVD sales like the original in this case as well.
But from what I have heard, that its as good as the original, if not better - im pleasently surprised I must say. Hopefully it will hold up as more and more reviews come in, and again, holding all final judgment till ive seen it, but soon I will have a good recient english vampire movie to point to when people come in looking for the twilight movies at the rental shop :D

I agree that the lead actress doesn't seem quite right for the role, in fact neither does the lead actor, they just don't seem that weird and nerdy like in the original

So I heard this is actually quite good, and (shock horror) faithful to the style of the original - a tasteful and equally chilling homage. Most definitely on my watch list now, if only to see how the cinematography and poignancy fare. Child acting always seems better in another language. :|

I refuse to see Let Me In.
There is NO WAY that could be even close to as good as Let The Right One In. There was no reason to remake it. Americans just need to learn to read subtitles.

I have a copy. And simply watch it in the original language with subtitles. The subtitles may not be exact, but they work and make sense.
