Life keeps trolling me.

Hey guys. I just found out that my best friend of 8 years is getting married. The problem? They've only been dating for 3 months. Long distance. Over skype. He just now came in from the navy and has only been dating her IRL for two fucking weeks. Yesterday he proposed and she said yes, but he has to go back to the navy on the 30th. Another complication: the girl he's marrying is the girl i think i may be in love with. We've hung out for fucking forever and i never got the chance to ask her out, and now I'm regretting it. I've got mixed feelings about it all, but bros before hoes i guess. The problem is that he's kind of an idiot. Everybody agrees that they're taking things way too fast, and i know I've got little chance of persuading him, but i feel like i've gotta talk to him and try to get him to take things more slowly, have a longer engagement and everything. Thing is, i'm pissed. from what she tells me, he's become a dick, yelling at her for random shit. What would be a good way to try and persuade him to take it slow? any advice will help guys.

I think you should round up the people that agrees with you that they are taking things too fast and meet with him in a group in order to convice him to take it slow for his own and the girls sake. Also whatever you do dont mention your love for the girl.

Warn him as a mate that you think that he's taking it too fast if he tells you to stick it, let him learn the hard way.

Otherwise you should stay out of his business even as a best mate he won't like you to poke your nose into his life.

He already told us all to fuck off (including his parents), so I'm gonna fucking let him learn the hard way.

That's a hard situation. The girl should realize that the guy is mad. Then that's the only way the relationship would stop. 3 months long distance and 2 weeks RL is a bit fast and would end up in a disaster.

you're doing this for a bad reason, let them make their own mistakes. It's a horse shit call to try and convince them not to for your own good.

p.s. if you think you can be with her and not ruin your friendship with the guy you're out of your mind, there is no way this can work out for you perfectly.

It's not a bad idea to convince her not to. But doing it for selfish reasons IS bad. And honestly though, she'll probably just distance herself from people neysaying her and do it anyways.

That goes for him, too. The more people oppose him the more he gets that "I'm one man against the world, HAHAHAHAH!" attitude. A lot of military guys like to have someone waiting for them at home. I've heard this story of rushed wedding before shipping out a lot lately.

Sounds like you're in the Friend Zone, unfortunately. I'm not sure what kind of advice to give you. Most girls love the situation that she's in right now. Aggressive guy who treats her like crap but wants to marry her, sympathetic friend who listens to her complain but wants to date her, parents and friends who oppose her reckless love...!

It's not a good situation. Try to talk to the guy and he'll see right through your motives. Most guys wouldn't get involved unless they had a thing for the girl (or the guy...) in question. Talk to her and you'll just put her right into his arms as said above. You could try some reverse psychology with him or her but chances are you'll just be digging in deeper. There's no HONORABLE way of breaking them up, honestly. So, unless you're so desperate that you'll try some underhanded shit chances are you'll have to just sit back, add your voice to those in opposition, and hope for a miracle.

Leave them alone. Some lessons can only be learnt the hard way.
