Looking for Laptop Recommendations
0
So, my 4 year old Thinkpad R60 is in it's terminal state.
Looking for laptop recommendations from you guys. Looking for something within $900, preferably $800.
These are the features I'm looking for in a new buy:
Screen size of 15" or more.
Don't really need a very powerful graphics card, I'm not an avid gamer.
A sturdy built. [I tend to keep my laptop running for 3+ weeks at times]
DVD burner and a webcam. (Those are regular features now I guess :/)
Windows 7.
HDD of 250 GB or more.
Can I get SSDs in my budget? And are they worth it?

Avoid Toshiba, I have one and Ive had problems with it and ive only had it a year.
Go for a HP, samsung or gateway, I had an HP for a bit and It was a good one.
EDIT: also, avoid refurbished ones, they are usually cheaper but they also have a better chance of breaking down or having more problems (My experience)

Consider that you are not buying it for gaming purpose ...
i would recommend ... Dell Vostro 1500
if you interested .. here is the review
there is another version of vostro that i would recommend to you as well ..
but i think it is enough atm
Specification
think that its fair enough

Have a look at the Lenovo T Series look pretty good for someone that needs a laptop for work.
As for your SSD question on your budget I doubt it unless you buy a small one or really cheap one, but the ultra cheap ones are trash a high quality hard drive will easily outpace cheapie SSDs.
If you DO end up buying a good SSD you won't look ultra fast booting and loading of apps.
This may sound like an ad but I'm one of those people who where early adopters and myself have never looked back.

@Jenkins: The Vostro looks good. Vista and 120 GB HDD are the downside (I'll add those points in the OP), hope it's upgradeable. What's your opinion about the inspiron 15 series?
@spectre: The lenovo ones sadly are over my current budget.
I'll probably go with a Dell or a hp. Further recommendations welcome.

Buff_Daddy_Dizzle
The True Buff Bizzle
Newegg Lenovo G550
This is the one I got, it's pretty solid, granted I paid around $700 for it, not the best price, but it's still good.
You could also try this one:
Newegg Lenovo G555
Much cheaper, but its specs show it too.

Avoid Lenovo I repaired so many of those I will never touch one again. They are garbage. Thanks for the tip, I'll have to keep an eye on mine then. I gotta tell you though, I was pissed as all hell when I did my free Win7 upgrade, the key on the laptop was for Win7 Pro, but the disc that Lenovo packaged with the computer was Ultimate. So I had to go through a bunch of crap to grab a Win7 Pro ISO from the web (luckily I had 1 blank DVD left). Just to add insult to injury, you have to activate windows over the phone.....pissed me off, but now it does pretty well, I just wish the graphics weren't utter shit, now I can't do any 3D design at all.
