Guns. We can shoot at the magician while he/she's chanting spell.

With magic you can just create infinite fucking guns, or just magically kill whatever you would use the guns on.

This. What's faster? Yelling out a 6 syllable magic phrase while moving your wand in some random motion, or squeezing the hair trigger of a glock?

Fiction: Magic win (Anti-bullet/physical attack barrier)

Since what you can use magic for is unlimited I go with magic. Magic could for example create a shield that protects you from any damage, with magic you could also blow up the world. Magic is an unlimited source of abilities and because of that there really isn't anything that can beat magic. Of course some magic can be limited, but that's if the person who comes up with it decides it to be, otherwise there can be endless possibilities for magic.

I was gonna say guns, but magic has so much variety that a firearm just pales in comparison.

Magic benefits:

-Attack multiple targets all at once
-Barriers, rough skin and regeneration
-Ability to summon familiars to do all the fighting for you
-High destructive power

Magic disadvantages:

-Usually takes a lot of time to master
-Drains energy

Gun benefits:

-Guns shoot bullets fast
-No worries about energy drain
-Easy to master

Gun disadvantages:

-When you run out of bullets, you're screwed
-Has zero defensive capabilities

I'd go with magic cause it offer more possibilities
