"Man marries a pillow"

Many of you probably already know about this (its old news in fact) but I wanted to know your opinion on this matter.
I found an old Korean show on Youtube about a 21 year old guy literally marrying a pillow (character). Now I am an open mined guy and all but I felt really awkward and a bit overwhelmed viewing this video. Also I felt that he was picked on as the show progresses. This talk show featured the 21 year old guy trying to show the public how much he loves his wifu.
Here's the video (aired around 2010) , it's in 5 parts (rest of the videos should be in the side bar and all have English subtitles.
Just to clarify and please dont get me wrong, I am not trying to talk bad about wifus or otakus (shiptaku in this case) and I am just really curious to know how the Fakku's community reacts to this video.
In my opinion, and I am still new to the concept of wifus (is it a literal thing? or just for status and/or because you simply can for you guys?), the guy in the video isn't harming anyone and in the end he's happy, yet I cant help feel that it's unnatural. There was a point in my life where I did "love" an anime character when I was younger but that was the past and I've grown.
I know this isn't the first or last time this type of scenario have occurred and there are many people in the world that has done something similar.

Yep, you would be right about this being done before.
I remember a video where some guy married a character in a game for the DS. I thought it was some wild publicity stunt.
And don't worry about talking bad about otakus, there really isn't anything good to say about them anyways.
As for waifus? Idk, Charlotte Dunois is my waifu, I just love the character. But I wouldn't miss the chance of actually getting in a relationship since I entitled myself to a "waifu". I think I'm pretty normal despite the fact that I'm completely fascinated by her.
Though the idea of her actually existing crosses my mind sometimes
No, I like actual girls more.

But I gotta admit this guys has some balls, coming on a national tv show where they are labeled as aliensand not being ashamed of it. In fact anyone that admits something that is considered strange I feel a certain degree of respect. I know I would never say this kind of thing in public like that.

Then you probably don't believe in anything that strongly.
Speaking in front of a camera, being watched my millions of people strongly.

Tu che, but I was mainly referring.to he guy in the video in terms of what he has to say. If the topic was about for example, how gaming may have effected peoples minds, going on and on, then I'd be glad to go on national TV to share my thoughts and beliefs (can't think of a "taboo" equivalent to the currency topic)

I've got to give respect to this guy for going onto TV a stating what he believes and not being fazed.
About the Waifus thing: I think the emotional attachment to a waifu depends from person to person. For example you've got people like this guy, who take it to the extremes, and then you've got people who play the waifu game on fakku just for the hell of it and everyone in between.[/h]

The biggest mystery to me is how the pillow signed the marriage license.Do they not require both parties to sign it over their?

Really sad, I mean sure it's cool to have a waifu and all but to really express it by going out and doing everything normal couples do????
If you ask me, pillows are meant for the bed, not for outdoor passion.

Dude, seriously, its just a fucking pillow. Its never going to acknowlege you, its never gonna talk to you, it's an inanimate object. Anyway, after a while it's probably gonna start to smell, too. Sad little man, here's an idea, suicide.
