Manga Ray of Hope?

Alrighty then, I found a website that my friend told me about. This website is actually a legal version of OneManga and w/e so it could be ppv or not (the site isn't functioning yet but, if it goes through, it could be a great way to read manga w/o dl'ing them).
While I haven't read the blog yet (too tired tonight), my friend said that they had their staff members go to Japan to recruit the mangaka to work with scanlators to post english translations of their manga on this website (my friend also said that they already successfully got some people). So, assuming they aren't scamming or w/e, this could be a good way to read manga online while being able to support the mangaka if they decide to charge or if there's some sort of donation thing.
OpenManga
If someone reads up on this more before I do, please post any important info :x

They're planning to put up a pay-to-view. How do you call that "open"manga?
Why not call it "totally-not-free"manga?

At least it would be a legitimate, online venue for authors. :\

Will it have mangas not licensed in usa?
Until then it sucks.
We have also stated that we are going to provide a model that would allow freelance and fan translators & scanlators to provide localization services of manga series. Some have incorrectly presumed that this means that the OpenManga team will be scanlating and translating manga on our own, however this is not so much the case. The OpenManga framework is being developed to promote collaboration between artists, publishers, and translators/scanlators by using OpenManga as the medium of choice. In simple terms, we are (in addition to providing scanlators a place to distribute their work legally) making it possible for manga creators and licensors to set up contracts with specific scanlation teams in order to produce, for example, the official Spanish version of a particular manga, in addition to allowing scanlators and translators translate series of their own picking because they simply want to spread appreciation for that manga.
I wonder if that will work. That's one paragraph out of a few on openmanga blog

I doubt the fee will be expensive as I would think it would be per month or something of the sort, not like per chapter right? Sides, a few dollars wouldn't hurt.....Regardless of how much a cheap bastard you are. I mean, hell, this is the real artists too....

Much less something I could download for free from scanlators.
Hell what if their translations are like English dubs? And with censors?

Guess people just don't like this concept :P Oh well, just thought I might as well post this in case anyone found it interesting. I do have to say though that, if the mangaka are teaming up with the scanlators to do this, the scanlators might stop posting DDL links on their websites or else this entire concept will be useless. So...I think that only the crappier scanlators will be left and/or it'll be harder to find DDL links or torrents of the scanlators that joined this website.
Eh, w/e. I'm gonna go bump my DL Manga thread for those who haven't seen it yet.
