You can, by actually reading many of the comics. Characters doesn't stay as characters in many of the series comics. And because Either DC comic or Marvel comic is not made of by ONE character only.
Have you tried Reading DC's Kingdom Come, where Superheroes Technically waged war against each other? Or even Blackest Night, which is the most critical even in all Green Lanterns history?
Or even read Marvel's Civil war? Where Iron Man's "side" who supports the Superhuman Registration Act fights Captain America's "Side" who are opposing the law on the grounds that it violates civil liberties. Resulting in the death of Captain America in the aftermath.
IT's not wrong to choose Batman, but it is shallow to choose him based upon his powerless superhero. What about Green Arrow, Hawk-Eye, Punisher, The Question.
