First name derives from the hebrew saying "One who is like God".Let me guess. Your name is Michael?
Mine:
Michael is a given name that comes from the Hebrew: מִיכָ×ֵל / מיכ×ל†Ž (Mikha'el), derived from the Hebrew question מי כמו ×לוהי×? (Hebrew pronunciation: [mi kÉ™mo Ê”elohim]) meaning "Who is like God?"[1] In English, it is sometimes shortened to Mike, Mikey, or, especially in Ireland, Mick. In Russian language, it is Mikhail and Mykhailo in Ukrainian.
Michael is one of the Archangels.

My first name is Joshua, which has some religious meaning.
Joshua was the name of the guy who succeeded Moses. Joshua is also... somehow... a certain translation/pronunciation of the man we know as Jesus. I'm not really sure about this, though I think he was physically called "yeshua".
I don't know or care about the meaning of my last name. My dad's last name used to be Smulowwitz, which was really hard to spell. Because his job required his name written alot, he changed it to a more simple name. So my last name might as well mean "this word is easier to spell than Smullowitz"

The meaning of the name Jonathan is God Has Given
The origin of the name Jonathan is Hebrew
Notes: Jonathan Frakes, actor. Jonathan Winters, comedian. Jonathan Price, actor. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, actor.
I don't understand. God has given what exactly? I'd point out the irony about how I couldn't care less about religion, but I sincerely doubt the name was given to me because of religious views.
