I provided an Image below from George Bridgman's Constructive Anatomy. He has like 12 - 15 pages on the neck, so this is just one of them. It shows you how the muscles move and contract in order to move the head. It may help. I have the entire PDF for Constructive Anatomy if you want it.
Andrew Loomis might be a bit easier to understand, Constructive Anatomy is more of a reference. Other then that, very good color use on those characters.
