Sometimes holding my head at a certain angle helps. if that doesn't work, i take a shower, then i turn off all the lights and try to sleep.

Sometimes holding my head at a certain angle helps.it's fucking weird that this actually works. Just leaning your head to the side a bit will make the pain go away. Though when you move your head again it'll come back. What's up with that?

A couple years back when I was doing more drugs than anyone could imagine, I'd get migraines from time to time. For the most part, I would just get high until I couldn't feel shit, but on special occasions, my solution for migraines was Ketamine. I haven't had many migraines since I chilled with the drugs, but when I do I pop some Excedrin. If that doesn't work, I just go to sleep or deal with it until it goes away.
are you totylly clean now? if so then grats to you!
when i was a kid i got migranies every other day it was horrible. i would either sleep it off or take meds. now i rarly get them and will also pop an axcedrin or 2

I knew a forum moderator once who had migraines for the most of the year...
...yeah. Actually, he was pretty ease-on members. Maybe because of that, actually.
So, I drank some more water recently, slept longer and it went away.
I suppose the weather becoming more stable as of late has something to do with it as well.
I guess in the future I'll keep to pills and sleeping.

I had one yesterday to speak of the devil. I kept thinking it was a normal headache, so I would eat thinking it would go away, take a pain reliever thinking it would go away, and it never did. Eventually took some more pain reliever and struggled to fall asleep. Felt perfectly fine when I got up in the morning. Sleep is definitely the best cure.

Sometimes Fpod gets really bad headaches and he'll lay down but has a hard time relaxing enough to sleep. So I'll often put a warm washcloth over his eyes and change it out when it cools off. It works pretty well to at least relax him enough to fall asleep. By the time he wakes up, he typically feels better.

I've got a near constant headache and frequent migraines, so depending on what else is bothering me at the time I have different solutions. Most basic thing is to drink more water or something like Gatorade to make sure you aren't dehydrated (makes a BIG difference), lay down in a dark room or preferably sleep it off if you can, putting an ice pack on your head in the area of the worst pain can help by shrinking the blood vessels, but can also make it worse if your muscles are really tense or you leave it on for too long.
Med wise an Excedrin Migraine coupled with 1 or 2 Fioricet (careful if you have liver problems, as both contain acetaminophen (Tylenol) and avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice for the same reason) works wonders and if your medical insurance actually covers it Imitrex or other Triptan based medications are highly effective. And of course depending on your opinion on it Marijuana can help, OR it can make it worse depending on your triggers.
Nortriptyline can be prescribed to help prevent migraines from forming in the first place, but since it's an antidepressant depending on your biological makeup and what other medications you take it may not be for you. Side effect wise the only thing I've experienced from it is some really weird fucking dreams, which doctors seem to disagree as to whether they are caused by the Nortriptyline or if it is just that you always have them and just have a tendency to remember them more often. Sometimes these can be nightmares and other times they are just the kind of dreams that make you wonder what the fuck you took/smoke/drank/did the night before. They also tend to be more... "life like" and feel more real, much like a lucid dream feels and can actually cause lucid dreams without having to practice the technique for it, however random they may be. Of course this is personal experience and may have to do with a combination of other medications.
I'm 20 years old and have been getting migraines since I was... 11 or so, with them increasing in frequency over the years due to lack of sleep and other problems. My mom and most of my aunts also get migraines so I've had plenty of time to try new methods to help with them.
(If your migraines tend to make you nauseous strong (unsweetened) peppermint mints or peppermint tea can help a great deal to settle your stomach, unfortunately it tends to be fairly short term.

Sometimes my frontal lobe swells (because my brain is so big, duh) to the point where I get splitting migraines and nosebleeds. This weekend I missed otakon due to nose tube insertion to staunch my blood flow.

When I get migraines usually the only way to get rid of them is to sleep. Its the best way to deal with them or I take 3 Tylenol every 2 hours till it goes away.
