MKV. to DVD subtitle problems
0
Hey I don't know if anyone can help me with this but..
I use "free mkv video2dvd" to convert my mkv's, I followed all the instructions on their website (http://www.effectmatrix.com/Free-MKV-DVD/index.htm) and after it was done burning i popped it in my dvd. It has great frame rate and good quality but the only problem is the subtitles go on and off. At first I thought I had to take the subtitles out of the MKV. video, so I used "mkvtoolnix-unicode-1.7.0" to take out the ASS. file and manually load the ASS. onto "video2dvd", however the problem still persist.
If anyone can help me with this it would be a great help.

If that's the case, I would suggest a Hard-sub. It will eliminate the flashing of subtitles. But the subtitles will be permanent.

Alternatively you could download ConvertXtoDVD. Not entirely legal, of course, but it works perfectly with softsub mkv's.

Since what I use to do it convert from .MKV -> .AVI -> .DVD , Because of the subs.

I use ConvertXtoDVD too and it works great. But in certain videos where 2 subtitles appear on the screen at the same time, it tends to look messy. A great example is when I converted gg's Maria+Holic.
Also, I recommend to decrease the subtitle size when converting MKVs with soft subs.

I have to do that to convert videos for my Samsung P3, sucks. H.264 takes a ridiculously long time.
Also as Unos says, you might need to mess around with the settings to optimise the DVDs, but that isn't such a problem as you can convert it and test before burning if you like. ConvertX is definitely the best for features that I've found...another addition to my list of IOUs.
