I made some rice krispie treats tonight for a bake sale at work tomorrow. I took butter and melted it down and slowly added marshmallows and let them melt slowly making a really nice whip.
They're delicious.
Do you think melting marshmallows or just buying the whip is better?

Hmm, I'd suspect they'd do the same thing as I did, just melt the marshmallows.
I remember when I was young whenever I'd go to my Nanny's she always had Ritz crackers and that marshmallow whip. My favorite thing to eat at her house would be a lebanon bologna sandwich with mayo, lettuce, on Arnold 12 grain bread. (I still buy that bread because of her). I'd get a big glass of 2% milk (at my home my mom only bought skim milk) and some Ritz crackers. :)
